Yeah but Mel was at least a competent Mayor - he might have been a bit goofy but he was never an ass - and was almost always genuinely honest (sometimes to a fault - like the "boil in a pot" comment).

Was Doug Sr. ever embroiled in a scandal? I would assume he would have been paying Hotmail's bills while defending Randy on Kidnapping/Keeping Dougie Jr. Dealing/RoF on fighting/Kathy on being a utter fuck up.

Or someone like Metro Chairman Gardiner ( who unlike the mayors of that era, was responsible for all 240 square miles ).

Not the best figure to follow, given the mistakes he had made, and his questionable governance style. Not that his worship would have any luck with getting anyone to fall in line (much less demonstrate such work ethic).

You know, this is an excellent point. Where the hell was Daddy when the boys began their burgeoning careers as l'il criminals? And why didn't any of this make the papers back then? Wouldn't this have made for nice, juicy scandal fodder back in the day? The sons of a prominent Tory politico involved in drug dealing, kidnapping, general thuggery (and God knows what else)?
As for Mel Lastman, who knew a future Mayor was waddling along that would make Mel look like Charles DeGaulle by comparison? Yes, Mel was something of a cartoon character himself, but he wasn't a bully or a thug, he wasn't a bigot or a hater, he didn't associate with low level street criminals, and he actually seemed to like Toronto.

That's really quite offensive. You don't know anything about the personal circumstances that led her to where she is. She clearly comes from a dysfunctional family. To call her "garbage" or "trailer trash" without knowing any of the facts that would lead an adult woman from a rich family with a history of mental illness to steal toothbrushes is inappropriate.

The hard drug use/gangster/white supremacist-associating/raising children in a constant criminal environment of her past is offensive. She might be mentally damaged from the drugs or she might actually be a simpleton, but last I checked, the Laws of the land are to be followed by everybody.
No sympathy. She knows right from wrong, but, like the Honey Badger, she doesn't give a shit and does as she pleases. Just because she is unattractive and inarticulate does not give her a pass "I gone done mah Community Service, but I ain't squealin'!!" Should be met with a contempt charge... But nope. Nothing. Not even a slap.

Not really - Metro was the right solution for its' time, but the city has long outgrown Metro and it would faces exactly the same problems as we have now. It would only have been effective as a GTA-wide level of government and not one for the old boroughs per se.
As to DMK, well, he's just wistfully looking back at the "good olde days".
