just wondering why we haven't heard more about lisi. the media seems strangely silent about it.

Because he knows Stephen Harper wouldn't even stoop to saying no, and because Harper is not a Lieberal Socialist to use to score cheap points. This is just another ploy that Ford figures is a win-win for him: if Wynne meets with him, he's legitimized; if she doesn't, he can play the victim card, rile up his base and push the "unelected premier" narrative. He's gone out of his way to make himself radioactive, in order to use it as a crude weapon against his opponents. It's all he's got---his only power is his notoriety. Just steering clear is the only way to come out ahead.

He also doesn't get that she isn't meeting with him because of his constant insults to her about being an unelected Premier.

When asked how she could ignore a democratically elected mayor, Wynne insisted that she was simply working in line with the city's decisions.

"This isn't about a political grudge," she said.

"The city council of Toronto made a decision about the leadership at the city. I have been consistent in my approach, which is to meet with the deputy mayor who has the responsibility to be the leader at Toronto city council and that's what I will continue to do."

Meanwhile, in a statement issued Wednesday afternoon Ford said it was "very disappointing" that Wynne refused to meet with him.

"I would like to remind Premier Wynne that I remain the head of Council and official representative of the City of Toronto," he said. "These powers can only be removed by the residents of Toronto at the next general election."

This, from the National Post, is beautiful. So refreshing to hear these things finally being expressed as clearly as the times demand.

'Councillor Joe Mihevc thinks the opposite. He says Ms. Wynne is both within her rights and “smart†for cutting the mayor out. “I don’t want Mayor Ford in that room talking about emergency preparedness and negotiating that deal,†he said. “We want someone who is level headed, who understands power and money and processes and is respectful of the democratic will of council. And that’s the deputy mayor, not the mayor.â€'
 
Perhaps in avoiding confrontation with the Frods everybody has this George Bernard Shaw quote in their minds:

Why would Wynne want to meet with Ford? For a photo op?

I doubt that. If she didn't observe (and defer to) the fact that council actually stripped him of most of his powers in favor of Norm Kelly there would be chaos and she'd be risking far much more - including the support of the constituents of all the Councillors who voted for the consensus majority to remove those powers.

I don't see it as risky in that sense. I doubt there are many (any) traditional Liberal voters who voted for Ford who intend to do so again. As for riling up his base, she's certainly doing that, but they are never going to vote for anyone but him anyway--they are a lost cause for any other candidates.
 
What's wrong with Denzil Minnan-Wong? He was the guy leading the charge to strip Ford of his powers. Actually looking almost admirable for once. Saw him making a comment on the news tonight and he seemed to want to stoke this fight with the premier. Ever since they were press-conferencing together during the ice storm Minnan-Wong seems to be back in his natural spot poking his head out from behind the bully to take digs at other people.
