Check out the construction company Rob Ford wants to use. They r his mob buddies which is why he wants subways so bad #TOpoli #cdnpoli

^^^^ From twitter. I'm not endorsing it, or saying he's correct, but he seems concerned about it so I thought I would put it here for posterity's sake.

When I was at a wedding last summer, I was talking with another guest who lives and works in East York. He told me a story about encountering a strange man that was banging on some windows. The strange guy came down from his building and talked with him. He said he was a former Ford staff member (Nicko, neeko?). Then the guy went on to offer to sell them drugs, saying that he was "really connected" and also talked about how he got an entire industrial block rezoned residential so he could profit off of it.

Now why do I tell this anecdotal story? Well because I really believe the guy who told me, and it fits with whats been developing about Ford. I think the media should check into the extra curricular activities of former staff members, what they are doing now, how they make their money. The guy made it seem like it was Ford that got him involved in selling drugs, and that Ford was perfectly knowledgable (obviously since he would have to have had a part in the rezoning) that the block had been rezoned specifically so dude could make money. How many more people are profiting based on their connections with Ford? How many of his current/former staff are part of the drug ring they have going on?

This (drug dealing mayors/councillors) is what I wonder about most.
If you had a $250k a year salary, how much is the risk worth to also be involved in street-level drugs? Do the suppliers who supply the street-level guys make millions a year? Why would RoDo be after the sleazy money when (by all accounts I've seen) they already have lots from the successful Deco? Now, if they associate with retards out on the corner...WHY? It makes more sense to me that they would be in Big Crime's pocket IE: some public works contracts are in the 100's of millions or more, and probably harder to get busted for than hangin' with homies.

It's funny Parkdale, I was just thinking about this tow truck driver story. The towing company does work for TPS, and the chair of the taxi tribunal that okayed this driver's reinstatement owns a graffiti removal company. Small world, eh?

Subways, casinos, and probably everything else Rob has shown an interest in has something in it for his "people".

UGH! How can it be so obvious to us yet no one is writing about this?

It could be being investigated. No media would cover something like that unless there is solid proof.

There may not be proof in this particular incident, but there is a lot of past events that would totally support this claim. Doug Ford has shown that he believes his role on the Portlands is to hire his friends, and Rob does nothing but hire his friends in his office. They consistently use their positions to benefit their friends and family (hello new paved road in front of Deco). I bet if we spent some time, digging through stories from the last three years, we could come up with an extensive list of incidences of them using their positions to benefit themselves and friends. Add in Rob's years as councillor before that, and it will probably get worse. How can Ford Nation defend stuff like that? Is that not the definition of abuse of office and "gravy"? I don't really know where I'm going with this but I am frustrated at all of the blatant abuses of power by politicians lately, in particular conservative politicians. "law and order" and "fiscal conservancy" mean absolutely nothing. I want my flipping country back.

The Toronto region now ranks as the worst performer in Canada in moving
people to and from work and is near the bottom of global rankings. For the past
several decades our investments in the region’s public transit have not kept pace
with economic and population growth.
http://www.transitpanel.ca/uploads/PDFs/HARD TRUTHS ABOUT TRANSIT- OCT 2013.pdf

And our mayor is more concerned with building unnecessary transit in the middle of nowhere. Above all else, this is the reason why Ford must go.

^Isn't it a different cast at Frank now? I know that Fabrice Taylor (?) sold it back to whatshisname after the failed run, but didn't whatshisname subsequently dump it on someone else? I remember buying my last hardcopy some time in 2007 or 2008.

Frank was wonderful. It was very widely read in the law firm where I used to work, but no one would acknowledge reading it. I later discovered that a couple of partners had once come into Frank's crosshairs, so its presence in the office was verboten.

Bate was supposed to relaunch it, online and paywalled, on October 1st.

Maybe they need one of these at City Hall
Anti-Bullying Friendship Bench to be unveiled at East York Community Centre

Councillor Mary Fragedakis (Ward 29 Toronto-Danforth) and City of Toronto staff will join members of the community to celebrate the donation of the Anti-Bullying Friendship Bench with an unveiling ceremony.

The Kill It With Kindness Organization is donating a Friendship Bench where children and teens may tell staff, volunteers and even other children that they need assistance for bullying. The Friendship Bench represents support, understanding, empathy and love for others.

It certainly looks staged, wonder if all those seniors were "rewarded" for going to the meeting. Funny isn't it, how Rob showed up and so did the seniors desperate for transit. Guess I'm cynical about everything involving Rob, I wonder why.

The sad irony is that many of those seniors will be dead by the time the subway, the wouldn't have helped them anyway, actually starts operating.

Someone called this yesterday, which is interesting. Now, what's the upshot of using his mayoral letterhead? Is it actually illegal, or is it strictly an ethical violation? Obviously it's shady stuff, but I'm curious about the specifics.
