Thanks - I don't think I've ever heard that before - but it's in the OED, as the 10th meaning of Bent (n.2).It's the concrete or steel support structures.
Perhaps I slept through that class in Civil Engineering.

The existing bridge will be removed to allow the widening of the Don.
I'm trying to find some renderings, will the new bridge look nicer? Or is it purely functional like the current one?

As I know, the new bridges will be the run of the mill cheap one that will house 6 lanes and 2 sidewalks that will be longer than the current ones. This includes the cycles bridge that most likely be the same style, but longer. Sidewalks have never existed there in the past. Haven't seen any rendering for the bridge area.Maybe in a few years, but my first impression was, "Wow, without the elevated highway blocking the view you can REALLY see how crappy this area is."
For someone who is around here a lot I am surprised that you had not made the connection between The Bentway and 'bents'. :-> ( https://www.thebentway.ca/ )Thanks - I don't think I've ever heard that before - but it's in the OED, as the 10th meaning of Bent (n.2).
