Roads: Gardiner Expressway catch-all, incl. Hybrid Design (2015-onwards)

The city and MX should temporarily expand Mimico GO's parking while all this construction is going on with the Gardiner.

Vandyk properties went bankrupt. All that land beside Mimico will sit empty for the foreseeable future.
I loe when snooty redditors will say whY Don't You TAKE THe Go when I'll see at least a dozen cars with parking tickets because the lots are full!

Is there a plan to rebuild the section between Strachan and Lower Jarvis on the east side? (Not sure if this question was asked previously on this thread)

There is a plan to replace the girders between Grand Magazine and York Sts. The other elevated sections had girders replaced 20-30 years ago I believe and don't need replacement right now.

Strachan to Bathurst was done back in 2015/16 as well. I find it weird that the city considers the Jarvis to Cherry portion that was done in 2021 as phase 1, ignoring the 2015/16 work that was done to the west.

Looking at streetview, the Strachan to Bathurst stretch actually appears to still have original girders. I assume the 2015-2016 period was a rehab of the existing structure (I can't remember) as they are still in good enough shape. The part from York to Lower Jarvis has clearly been replaced at some point as it consists of concrete girders similar to what's being installed right now west of Strachan, unlike the original green steel girders.

If you want to know which sections of the Gardiner superstructure has been rehabilitated, just see whether the deck has new concrete barrier wall or the old curb wall and railing.

The next phase will be from Grand Magazine St to around Spadina. Pre-engineering work (surveying) has already started during the last Gardiner closure. I believe there are some structural evaluation ongoing/coming up in the next few months to review the conditions of existing girders and whether they can be reused.

Or you could, y’know, take the TTC to the station.
Doesn’t help that usually a significant portion one of the lines is closed on weekend

I heard the next section to be worked on is Spadina but not sure if that will necessitate closing the ramp?

I’m pretty sure Mimico GO station is served by buses.

Also, how busy is Mimico parking lot on the weekend?
Doesn't help for anyone coming out of the city, plus almost all of the long branch lot is closed. Mimico is 100% full whenever something is going on downtown (sports, concert etc) I often see a dozen or more cars ticketed for parking on the street.

Have you check out those buses as Noted, as I know what there now??

You need to check out Mimico GO Station area on the weekend and a week day to see what taking place.

With Long Branch Parking Lot Close to non register vehicles, they are parking at Mimico that is full daily with vehicles parking on the streets and hoping they don't get a ticket or elsewhere.
