It has had a fresh coat of black paint and looks quite snazzy. Not sure about 'heritage lighting' - though it's a good idea!

There appears to be some nice lighting on at night, but I'm not sure if its just temporary lighting for construction (are they doing night work?) or if its new permanent lighting.

The concrete work seems to be moving ahead quite well and the TTC are now preparing to come onto site to lay the rails.

Overnight new rail relocation starting night of October 18
In advance of the new rail installation work at the Bathurst Street Bridge, over the course of up to three (3) nights starting the night of October 18, TTC track crews will pull the new strings of rail that are currently stored on Bathurst Street north of Queen Street to an area south of King Street and some rail to an area near Fort York Boulevard.

Yes, looking good. I assume they will sooner or later move the pedestrian traffic to the western sidewalk and then fix the eastern sidewalk and the railings there too.

The purpose of this report is to request authority to amend Purchase Order Number 6050585 issued to Grascan Construction Limited/Torbridge Construction Limited, as a result of Request for Tender, Ariba Document Number 2241522807 for the provision of construction services for the rehabilitation of the Bathurst Street Bridge, south of Front Street. The total Purchase Order Amendment being requested is for an additional amount of $1,098,835 net of all taxes and charges ($1,118,174 net of Harmonized Sales Tax recoveries), revising the current purchase order value from $11,252,412 net of all taxes and charges ($11,450,455 net of Harmonized Sales Tax recoveries) to $12,351,247 net of all taxes and charges ($12,568,629 net of Harmonized Sales Tax recoveries).

An expanded scope of work combines the rehabilitation of the City portion of the bridge and the bridge rehabilitation work requested by Metrolinx under a single construction contract, thus avoiding traffic and streetcar service disruptions along Bathurst Street in subsequent years. Following the commencement of construction, scaffolding to access the overhead truss components on the Metrolinx span of the bridge was installed and close-up inspection revealed areas of severe deterioration on the overhead steel bracing. Metrolinx requested additional steel work be performed to maintain the structural integrity of the truss and prevent any corrosion or section loss from worsening. The full amount of the additional construction cost related to the above additional scope will be fully recovered from Metrolinx.

Look like cheap plastic or aluminum handrail on the west side. Concrete barrier between the road and sidewalk.

TTC crew working on site and the rails waiting to be splice at the south end. Concrete base for the rails could be pour this week.

TTC moving along well with the streetcar tracks, almost all are in place and they should start pouring the concrete in next few days. The new concrete 'walls' between sidewalks and road are being topped with quite classy metal (?) railings that appear to match the original bridge railings.

There is no plan for streetcar ROW on the bridge. They are thinking of one on west side of Bathurst south of the bridge when they replace those tracks.

You will need an EA to move TTC tracks to the west in an ROW from Fort York to Queens Quay as well closing Fleet 100% to traffic, the layout for the streetcars turning and platforms. At the same time, QQ would be rebuilt to match the eastern section and an EA will be require to do this also. This removes tracks in the centre of the road currently there.

Doing QQ and Bathurst as noted was the recommendation of the Transit Reset Study as well the Lake Shore Blvd west of Humber loop. The idea of the Brenner LRT line was removed from Waterfront plan, but TTC still want it which is dumb.

Otherwise, there are no plans north of Fort York to have an ROW on Bathurst St or the bridge.

The TTC seem to have finished all the rail on the bridge and connected it at both ends. Pedestrians have been moved from east sidewalk to west sidewalk and they are working today on the base layer of asphalt beside the tracks. It is moving along well though I noticed the have not (yet??) sand-blasted and repainted the pedestrian railings in west side of the actual bridge, which seems rather strange. I would say the bridge will reopen to traffic before Christmas, though the TTC still has to deal with the overhead so streetcars may not reappear until late January, as planned.
