Premier Doug Ford's Ontario

Shades of Justin in the boxing ring? Although that was for charity.
There is a push-up challenge for better mental health running until the 28th.
They have raised $3,378,802 for CMHA so far. I heard about it after someone was doing it as part of their presentation at the conference I run last weekend.

As one might imagine I am not a 'follower' of Ford Nation. Notwithstanding that, FB's algorithm sought to push out one of their posts to my feed today.

Sigh..

I do realize it is the Premier's job to help attract/retain big events and such.....but if he didn't have to stop in to grovel to Taylor Swift (did I miss that?) ....was this really necessary?

Doug Ford will give MPPs their first pay raise in 16 years. A rare moment where I agree with Doug Ford.

Sure, of course, his government froze OW payments again this year, and continues with a minimum wage that has in no way kept pace with the cost of living......

So, some other increases are due; and frankly ought to be larger than those for MPPs (percentage terms)

Premier Ford directs the LCBO to remove American alcohol from its shelves. The LCBO website says it’s temporarily unavailable while we remove US products. Premier Ford also announced that Ontario will slap a 25% export tax on electricity it sends to 1.5 million homes in Minnesota, Michigan and New York, in retaliation for President Trump's tariffs and that he will direct the province’s energy producers to shut down the exports entirely if Trump moves ahead with even more tariffs on April 2. Finally, Premier Ford is warning the auto industry could shut down in a ''matter of days'', following the tariffs.

That would be a total of a 35% tariff on Canadian electricity I believe. 10% import tariff and 25% export.

Word to the wise: it would be helpful to provide some source or additional reading.

Crazy scene at the LCBO at King and Yonge. The staff are frantically removing the US products from the shelves and the manager is yelling out at the customers “if it's still on the shelf you can still buy it, but the second we remove it, it's no longer for sale here anymore.“ Definitely looked like some restaurant buyers were snapping up what they could still get. One guy had ten bottles of J. Lohr right before they were about to get to that section.
