Premier Doug Ford's Ontario

It's home base Etobicoke afterall, and apparently still Ford country - outside of there Doug is just plain boring. While his brother had a lot, lot more than the allotted 15 minutes of fame , Doug is out that league entirely. The urge to name something, anything, after a politician, disgraced or otherwise, is as powerful as ever.

Except Barbara Hall's kids aren't using her park as a cheap launching pad for their political careers. A lot of this mess can be traced back to naming the Doug Ford Sr. park after a failed one-term backbencher.

Well played, Tory. Stands up and endorses the idea but makes it clear he won't whip the vote. Probably knew the score before he even proposed the amendment. To add insult to injury, the other motion to find naming items for Moeser and McConnell receives almost unanimous support.

Now he can say he tried while Doug is left holding a bag of shit.

Yes, Tory did his part and voted yes, so Doug can't attack him for it, just council.

EDIT

CP2Ford just had Doug on the phone...

Note @MichaelFordTO abstained on Rob Ford Stadium vote, which means at least someone in that family knows how conflict of interest works

Here's how everyone voted:

Michael Ford did not vote because he declared a conflict of interest in its regard at the beginning of Council on Monday. The other 8 who were absent: valid reasons, or gutless?

The 11 who did vote yes are either gutless or shameless.

Unfortunately, Moeser's replacement Jim Hart hasn't impressed me with his vote. WTF is he thinking? Crack-smoking, foul-mouthed, ex-mayors don't deserve things named after them. Why is that so difficult for people to understand?

Rosie DiManno weighs in on Ford Stadium. I agree with her about the naming of public spaces, I can think of much better choices than local do nothing councillors/mayors.

"It was as a decent human being that Ford failed too because he was manifestly not the jolly and benign socially awkward galumph as portrayed by his apologists. He was, rather, the foul-mouthed and bullying miscreant who infamously unleashed obscenities at complaining fans sitting around him at a Maple Leafs game and berated city hall security guards in one of his late-night drunken escapades."

"I am weary of politicians commemorating themselves and their colleagues around this city, on street names, parks, child-care centres, public squares, schools and recreational facilities."

When Doug Sr. got a park named after him for being a one term backbencher, the floodgates opened.

From link:

A 1.6 hectare park on Royal York Road south of Lawrence Avenue West featuring a children's playground. The park follows the Humber Creek as it flows along the park's eastern border.

Chrisanti struggles with sarcasm. He retweeted this, thinking the poster agreed with him. (Someone eventually must have explained it to him slowly; he seems to have deleted the retweet a few hours later.)
