There are superconducting solutions out there but they cost a TONNE of money so seem to be, for now, only useable in very particular situationsIt's not a question of "if" but "when". One day the technology will be there to safely bury even the biggest lines, and the value of the land those lines currently sit on will be high enough that developers will be willing to pay to bury the lines at no cost to the utility company. When that day comes you will see a wholesale change in the suburban environment.
