Ottawa Transit Developments

Typing on the fly. Bayview, and thought it was third rail. Quiet for a diesel, I’m used to GO Train roar. Is there any plan to convert Line 2 to electric overhead lines?
The Flirt trains are designed to operate by diesel or electricity, so conversion is possible. I would not hold my breath that this will every occur.

Also probably more likely it would be retrofitted with pantograph & catenary than third rail & contact shoe, for compatibility with other O-train fleet.

My pipe dream for Ottawa is to see Line 4 continue along the Southeast Transitway from South Keys to Billings Bridge, then head north on Bank Street in a tunnel to Parliament or Lyon Station with underground stops at Lansdowne Park, Glebe, Gladstone, and Somerset.

That way Ottawa finally gets a useful airport rail link and rapid transit along its busiest urban corridor.

Probably the older Lint trains, that run in pairs on weekdays and singles on weekends when ridership is lower. Not sure about the door issue but it could relate to timing on the single track sections. The trains can't run at optimal speed because of that and there may be momentary delays to match up properly with the train coming in the opposite direction. These trains and the Flirts are used for regional service in Europe so that is why the seats are more comfortable.
They thought it was third rail, so @Admiral Beez was definitely on a FLIRT. If it were a LINT you'd know for sure it's a diesel train. No idea why they thought the FLIRT was "definitely older", those trains are the newest on the system.
