I came across rumours like that, but I was able to find it fairly consistently before COVID - it disappeared shortly after mid-March. Managed to score some today at an Asian supermarket - at double the usual price!

Just because I feel guilty over giving you a hard time, I took a look at the Toronto major supply chains.

Currently Ragu is listed in only one major supply chain that I can see; Metro still lists 2 versions.

That doesn't mean it isn't on a shelf of another grocer; but it means its not a warehouse listed item currently.

Some grocers still allow their store managers some discretion in carrying non-warehouse items (though not much)

I've already checked - the variants listed at Metro online aren't the one I wanted. The most telling thing is that it had disappeared completely as an item from the chains that used to carry it. It's ok - I have enough in stock, and I can make my own pasta sauce should I choose to.

I have noticed lately some grocery stores have relaxed its social distancing measures. Stores are way more crowded now than they were a month or two ago. And no line ups to get in. I think its a bit too soon for that.

Possibly more people are venturing out to (grocery) stores now than even just a month ago. Although I've found while waiting in line outside the store, people aren't following the 6' rule as much anymore. Seems like people have forgotten to physically distance somewhat now.

I was just about to post that. I'm not comfortable sitting/eating inside even if it's at 50% capacity. YMMV of course. I'm not sure when I'll be ready to eat indoors at an establishment honestly, but definitely not right now.

Has anyone seen Lysol wipes anywhere since March?

Costco had some but they went FAST! My sister got some from Walmarts but said they went pretty fast as well.

It's available - but disappears quickly like @tripwire mentioned. My suggestion is buy it if you see it (and is in need of it). If you are a Costco member go on a weekday right when it opens if you can.

Only place I've seen them is at Dollarama who carry the smaller pack of 35 in each container. Try the Junction location on Dundas west of Keele, who seem to have steadier stock than the one close to me on Lansdowne.

Costco has them; they get a new shipment in every couple of days. You can order them online from Dollarama. I don't use them, but our local FB group blows up whenever people see them in stock. And you don't have to get Lysol, there are plenty of brands that meet the recommendations, but oh how I wish I had stocks in Lysol.

Yeah it comes in pack of 6 x 90 (?) at Costco. In any case the wipes are purely for convenience - you can do the same with paper towels and spray cleaners. I am still doing that even though I now have a healthy stock of wipes.

Cause I feel many people dont realize you will have to fight with millions of people for the same basic low paying jobs that they are now avoiding.

That fix most of the issues.

She always wanted to go back. Being at home all day with the kids has its drawbacks.

This is the kind of thing that drives me crazy. Basically the federal government refuses to take any lead in Infection prevention and at every step Provincial and Municipal levels of government move to rollback initiatives instead of strengthening them. In this case they stopped contract tracing Covid-19 cases on planes instead opting to post the info about flights with infected passengers on their websites.

It’s not this issue in particular it’s the underlying operating philosophy. It’s pound of cure over ounce of prevention . In the mean time ounce of prevention Taiwan where my wife is from has fully open everything, no draconian lockdowns, no expensive bailouts, kids are at school without need for cohorting or online learning, my wife’s friend is swamped at work because business is booming with international orders.

My assessment of our current state of preparedness leads me to believe we can’t sustain a level of opening beyond Ontario stage 2. What I mean is that we will have to keep opening to 3 then rolling back to 2 as caseloads surge. Not because this is inevitable but because our leadership still doesn’t get that our problems are systemic and philosophical.

You do know each level of government has different levels of responsibility according to the constitution? That is why the feds cannot give funding directly to the cities, it has to give them to the province who then decides where it will (or will not) go. The feds can only give "recommendations" which the provinces may or may not carry out. Only the international crossing does the feds have control over.

^^ The federal authority is (or can be) actually broader than international travel under the Emergencies Act or the Quarantine Act, but generally, public health is provincial. The more local and granular the action, it makes sense that the more local the authority will be. In many parts of Ontario the numbers are flat or dropping.
