It is not for political correctness. It is because if you scan a specific group and let another group through, that second group will become unintentionally become carriers of objects.

Pretty simple to slip something into some distracted old white blond female professors bag and retrieve the object again later without that person knowing. I specifically chose this type of person because they already have a very easy time with customs.

Yes, but if effective scanning for people instead of objects was used, the fellow you suggest planning to retrieve the object wouldn't be on the plane, because people/profile as opposed to screening would have stopped him.
