miWay Transit

I wonder who else mentioned that? 🤔
I don't buy the people are taking busses answer because the Dixie GO and other Milton line lots are PACKED
I'm inclined to believe more people along the Transitway connect or walk to the station compared to GO. According to the station numbers I do have from 2023, Lisgar GO to Dixie GO account for 2.2 mil. boardings, for an est. total ridership of 4.4 given probably 99% of trips are circular. Comparitavely, Transitway had 4 mil in 2025. That 4 mil figure is probably also excluding GO bus service.
It seems kind of insane that they seem to pull comparative numbers, but do mind the 2 year difference.

How can you walk to Dixie when they don’t allow any housing around it. Erin meadows has some housing around it but instead of adding density recently it added another factory.

Once again the majority of the development is at square one with no go train. And some of the most protested amount of development (port credit) with all day go train.

Sounds like it is including routes like 7 and 39 at Renforth, and 110 at CCTT and Erin Mills as well. Even with those routes included, 4 million still very surprising considering 100/107/109 not fully returned to normal, and GO numbers not included either.

If you look at stop ridership maps, the Winston Churchill and Erin Mills stations stick out in the west end, but east of Hurontario the Transitway gets overshadowed by corridors like Bloor and Dixie.

I always considered the Transitway more of regional/GO thing, so any meaningful MiWay ridership is a nice bonus, so I don't think they really need to overstate it.

This bus was delivered in spring 2025! Why has it deteriorated so fast?

This isn't deterioration. This is salt buildup. Everyone's boots and shoes walks around and picks up an ungodly amount of snow mixed with salt, and it melts on the bus leaving only the salt behind. There's not really much that can be done about this other than more routine cleaning. (And at an individual level, I recommend knocking your shoes on some pole or wall before boarding. Good practice all around!) I can't speak to how well MiWay does it compared to other bus agencies in the GTA, because I don't ride the bus often, but I suspect most bus agencies are similar. The times I have ridden MiWay at these times of years, I do often see pretty bad salt buildup. The salt buildup is mostly cosmetic, so it will eventually be cleaned without any problems afterwards.

Not to say "Oh it's whatever, get over it" because I don't like it either, its ugly- but cleaning can be pretty expensive, especially for something like buses which have to be taken out of service to be cleaned, leaving driving manpower and buses idling.
