Miscellany Toronto Photographs: Then and Now

The Pollocks store we went to when I was growing up in the area was on the north side of Dundas between Keele and Pacific (in the 1950's). And if I recall correctly, there was also one on Roncesvalles on the east side (in the early 1970's).
Yellow was the predominant storefront colour.

OOOPS, I realize the store on Roncesvalles was a hardware store. Any link to the shoe store other than name??

Also found this Pollock's 3 cent store coupon from 1927.

This must have been a "New store" that was added to the above list, post Might's 1950 entry.

We're getting some pretty interesting history of Pollock's here.
But does anyone know where their shoes were made?

Today. Adelaide Street, north side, just a few feet west of Yonge. An ancient basement open to the light again; but soon sure to be hidden once more.

Then and Now for February 4, 2013.

Then. A sort of continuation of last Friday's Then and Now. It's still Jan. 8, 1931. Neighbouring 155-157 Dupont this time.

An in-between shot here - June 1957 - I wondered what that building looked like under the signage. It's also interesting that there is a house behind the building on the left from last Friday's Then and Now.

Then and Now for February 5, 2013.

Then. Looking towards the SE corner of Yonge and St. Clair. c1970-ish, I'm guessing.
