I've never heard of an expiry date on my Octopus card.
will the TTC continue to use the monthly metro passes when the introduce the presto card?

Personally, I prefer that they ditch the monthly pass and go with the reward system everyone else is using. The benefits are overwhelming when compared to traditional period passes.
reward system is for airlines
When you tap that 36th fare and get free rides for the rest of the month, the machine should give one of those 'you have just won!' fanfares that the lottery terminals use.For travel on BT, each adult ride is $2.50 (the cost of an individual adult fare ticket.) After 36 full-fare rides within the same calendar month, the fare is free for the remainder of that month (the approximate equivalent of an adult monthly pass.)
This is what I'm talking about. It's called a reward system because you're rewarded for frequent travel. Stuff can have more than one definition, ya know :|
What you're referring to is not a "loyalty program" per se, but simply a way to make sure that riders get the best deal available to them. If you spend over a certain threshold, then you can take advantage of pass pricing. For travel on BT, each adult ride is $2.50 (the cost of an individual adult fare ticket.) Me too ... mine is 4 years old. I see no need for this. They can always pull them all back one day if there's a technological change in the future.I've never heard of an expiry date on my Octopus card.
