This is starting to sound like Israel vs Palestine. Regardless of why the residents/squatters are there and who is right their presence is a reality and they aren't about to move

Luckily, the electorate, the Old City of Toronto, and all parties at the provincial level wanted it saved.

The worst mayor in the history of Toronto is not Rob Ford....it was Fred Gardiner (Chairman of Metro being the equivalent), who never met a neighbourhood he wouldn't like to demolish.

Although on the other hand he accelerated the development of the inner suburbs from rustic countryside to urban area, for better or worse.

Since many homes were moved or demolished to make way for the airport, that theory doesn't wash either.

Apples and oranges; however, Gardiner actually built something other than a reputation of talk and no action.

Fred Gardiner held Robert Moses to high regard. Gardiner had met Moses in 1954 for advise on how to run the then new Metropolitan Toronto, and did run Metro his way. Of course, both did not have environmental assessments to face, and had limited opposition.

And he metaphorically bludgeoned his opponents to submission. I can see why his ex-worship would have held him in high regards, though the level of personal competence couldn't differ more. While his push for the Gardiner is well known, it's probably safer to say his take on public works and social services is far more activist and nuauced than what's-his-name.

Fred Gardiner actually did his most of his own homework and generally was prepared for meetings. Rob Ford couldn't be bothered. John Tory studies for meetings and asks questions to better understand, but does delegate better than both Gardiner and Ford.
 
Although I am posting this here, the IHTWORF page for FF Nation whole heartedly supports Roosh V. Roosh gave a video interview with Ezra Levant a little while ago, and it perfectly fits into TheRebel's Right Wing Nutbar propaganda that would fit rather well in the 1950's, especially their anti-Feminist coverage of the Slut Walks.
