Maldive's Excellent Future Skyline Rendering.

Re: render

Let's commision her too finnish the rest of the buildings. :p

Re: render

which building will be competed first? the RBC-Dexia tower or Bay Adelaide?

Re: render

Nice work. Although I must say that the skyline doesn't look dramatically different. It's about time for Toronto to build a couple of 1000 footers.

Re: render

Agree Bogtrotter. Bring it on!!

This pic is fantastic, and I'm happy to hear it's a work in progress. I don't see Liebeskind's condo? Also, it might be interesting to somehow include a rendering of the Coupland designed garden that is proposed, and maybe some waterfront design details too.

Toronto's density has reached a point were even a couple of 1000 footers won't make much of a difference. They would be noticed, but only by those who are looking for them.

Last summer I was in NYC for the first time in a year. There are at least 20 buildings over 40s that weren't there the year before. They were barely noticible.

"Toronto's density has reached a point were even a couple of 1000 footers won't make much of a difference."

A couple of buildings the size FCP or Scotia around college or Y/B would definitely be noticed.

^ They'd be noticed anywhere other than King & Bay, really.

"Toronto's density has reached a point were even a couple of 1000 footers won't make much of a difference."

you may be eating those words when you see the sample update and the impact of the RoCPs and Muranos on the skyline

I can't agree with that. Look at RoCP, which is not even close to 1000', but is very noticeable. RoCP 3, which the say won't even be 1000' ft, would surely be a landmark tower for the area (design notwithstanding).

Re: render

Really is fantastic. Some previews of an updated version are up on the SSP thread, on which they talk delicious trash about UT.

W/rt "where's the Liebeskind condo": out of frame to the right.

Also, I notice that the poor Uptown didn't make it...

Re: render

Maldive has offered us (urbantoronto) an updated rendering.

Re: render

Ooh, with the crazy zig-zag building. Is it really supposed to be that big?

These hypothetical renderings have gotten a lot nicer to eyeball now that Sapphire's out of the picture (as it were).

Re: render

Maldive has really done a fantastic job with that rendering.

I think what I find most impressive though is that the chances that those buildings will get built and that the city will look like that in 5 - 10 years time are really quite good. And I agree, Sapphire was rubbish and the city is better for the project disappearing.

Re: render

That's the thing, virtually *everything* placed in this photo is actually under construction as we speak, or will soon be. The only building I can think of that I don't see is the Festival Tower.

Re: render

^ For the most part, yeah, but there's still a few projects of dubious likeliness that are prominent there. I spy with my little eye: One Bloor East, the Uptown, ROCP III (though I'm guessing that will happen, in some form), the zig-zag thing of which we've heard so little, and, uh, Trump. Also, is CityPlace still planning on building the Signiature tower as such?

All the same. Can't get over how much fun this picture is.
