London 2012 Olympic Logo and Paralympic Logo

As unique as the logo is, they are going to have a big problem making money off of the logo. If 80% of locals hate it, how does the organizing committee expect to sell Games products? That logo is going to be on everything, but if the people hate it, they wont buy it.

Looking at that POS reminds me of an old SCTV skit, We're Logos Galore! Rick Moranis is a pitchman for a company that makes well-known corporate logos, but their actual logo is a drug-induced scribble that is completely incomprehensible. I suspect that was the case here.

Over here in England, news coverage has been about how the flickering, animated images of the logo promotions are likely to trigger epileptic seizures.

Maybe dopers are more susceptible to such seizures...could these animations be a revolution in preemptive drug testing?

What 5 year old school kid designed it?

seriously, it's so fuddy duddy British, like a remnant of Brit-pop 90's cool that makes you want to cringe as it's so far past its use by date.

Like Atlanta, they seem to have used the better logo for their bid committee. One hopes Lord Coe et al will do better with the actual games than Atlanta did.

With so much world-leading design talent based in London, one would think they could come up with something more inspiring for quite possibly the largest international event to hit the UK in decades.
