A company that plans to run a private bus service along Lake Shore Blvd. did not begin selling tickets this weekend as expected.

Promotional material for the Humber Bay Express indicated that passes could be purchased starting Saturday at Westview Realty at 2067 Lake Shore Blvd. W.

But a sign posted on the door said otherwise. "Due to unforeseen circumstances, the office for Humber Bay Express will not be opening as scheduled until further notice," the notice read. "Our apology for any inconvenience this may have caused."

The same notice was posted on the company's website.

The Star was unable to reach Humber Bay Express president Daniel Tatomyr yesterday.

The bus service is slated to begin this Saturday. It proposes to run along Lake Shore Blvd., west of the Humber River, to Union Station. It would cater to commuters who live in the upscale lakefront condominiums and find the TTC service in the area too slow or crowded.

TTC officials told the Star last week the service would be illegal under city bylaws and that they would oppose the plans.
