^ Ah I see. Does 'bad track' in that area imply that it's a key area that needs to be upgraded? I assume Metrolinx is looking at this as part of their 12-18 month timeframe (starting from December 2018 per the Minister) for more news on all-day, two-way GO to Kitchener?

"Bad track" is a bit of a catch-all term that can mean any number of different things - broken rail, bad joints, soft ballast or ties or structure, poor drainage, etc. It's generally more attributable to a maintenance problem than an ongoing infrastructure or design issue. If a crew hits a spot where the unit bottoms out or may otherwise ride differently than it should, they'll call it in, and the RTCs will send out a maintenance foreman to check it.

A few details in the Oshawa Express article:
- the timeline for the updated business case for the new options is either the summer or fall;
- Metrolinx is saying that the benefits to cost ratio is only .56 to 1 for the EA original route when they want it to be at least 1:1 [and they implied during the town hall that all-day, two-way service on a different route could get it closer or above 1:1];- CP Rail apparently (and as discussed here) has new asks but don't detail what they are. Some discussion here has noted CP probably wants more or complete separation from the GO tracks/the GO tracks further to the south.
- one Oshawa Councillor, seems to fully back the Ford gov:

Ward 1 city councillor Rosemary McConkey believes most residents aren’t overly worried about the particulars of the route, they just want the service.
“If [Metrolinx] is giving us the option to get it cheaper or faster…how many residents are worried about the location? They want to get on the train and off the train,” she added.

There aren't even that many people in Durham Region according to Metrolinx studies. The "Yurek Philosophy" says so!

Obviously Durham is going to have to match the Niagara model to get special treats.

And the reason it's not going to be electrified is because the model train Metrolinx that Wynne bought to have running around in circles at Choo-Choo- HQ didn't come with batteries. It's Wynn's fault.

Probably not too much as long as Metrolinx isn't expecting the Raptors or MLSE to promote them back, or have their logo displayed in-game, or reserve them tickets to games. Usually those are the drivers of the high cost of sponsorships. Maybe $5k allows them use on Twitter, and it get re-tweets from the official Raptors account?
 
So, I'm guessing the modest June service improvement is up.....

There's a new schedule, effective June 29th from the LSE corridor.

I haven't studied it to determine what changed.

Nothing announced yet.

 
^ A few trains were added to the Lakeshore East line. Maybe that' where they were showing up? What did that chart look like again and what was it measuring?
