Actually, it's an improvement over the old regime where parking was only legal for 3 hours. There were occasional ticketing blitzes on those back streets. Ever since the free parking lot was shrunk in anticipation of development (before the last developer went broke, that is) there is a solid overflow of daytime commuter parking onto local streets. I wonder if the reserved parking has returned to pre-covid levels, for a while a lot of the reserved signs had been taken down. And after about 2 PM, those reserved spots are a safe bet if you are headed downtown for the evening. .
Service on the Royal York bus is pretty frequent, but it is still awfully convenient to drive and park rather than try to get to GO by transit for the last mile. There's a message in that. GO is still solidly based in the park and ride mentality.
