Turns out a random Mississauga MPP did prematurely announce a new station at the Lakeview development, and that station wasn’t Long Branch GO, or Park Lawn; which is located in Toronto, so of no interest to a politician in Mississauga.

For context, it's a 4 minute bus ride to Long Branch, on top of a 5-10 minute walk to the bus stop. The new trail connection through Jim Tovey Conservation Area will likely make it ~8-10 minute bike ride or a 30 minute walk (Google speeds, shorter if you go at a quicker pace).

Mississauga is looking at constructing a BRT along Lakeshore that will connect with both Long Branch and Port Credit. So this new station is definitely not needed.

It was pretty bad for me, my train kept getting delayed multiple times, and was packed to the gills

You’re against it because you believe the extra stop will make the general route slower.
the dundas brt is year away from being complete and we at least have some designs for that. And still that project is being crawled back because of lack of funds. When exactly do you think this lakeshore brt will be up in service because I haven’t seen one design presentation on it and I’m assuming funds again will be lacking.

And how long do you think it would take to construct an entirely new GO starion?
Based on the recent article, its clear that the proposed Lakeview GO station is nothing more than a "backroom deal" Doug made with his developer buddies and didn't consult MX first.
Aren't you guys usually against this type of corruption from Doug?

I’ve given up and accepted this is what we got. This is how Scarborough got their subway. As a Mississauga resident I am voting for my best interest and that’s it.
Btw where was all those reports on lakeshore BRT you were talking about. That serves my needs as well. Thanks in advance.

Anyone got any more insider info on how the hand over of GO train operations to Onxpress is playing out? Is it going smoothly? I thought as we got closer to the Jan. 1st 2025 handover date that we would see more announcements from Metrolinx about the status of the handover. There doesn't seem to have been anything major announced since the early months of this year.

Presumably it'll be start-of service on Jan 1st (~5am) rather than transitioning at exactly midnight.

Presumably. But integrating staffing for the end of service on December 31, and beginning of day January 1st might have challenges. Especially with as many as possible taking vacation (or calling in sick). I'd have selected something like January 11th - that wouldn't have inherent pressures.
I'm sure strong competent management could work around it. But given last year's failure.
Speaking of last year's failures, I happened to be in Union station and changed GO trains just as the Taylor Swift concert was letting out. It ran like clockwork! There were a lot of GO staff in the station, directing traffic, streaming TTC passengers one way, and GO passengers to the York Concourse. When the stairs from the Great Hall got busy, they then directed them to the Bay concourse, and a huge swarm then efficiently went through the Great Hall to the stairs to the Bay concourse. And then suddenly they stopped as they redirected to the York concourse again.
Very impressive! Just as the flow ebbed, I was in the Bay concourse, and there was no queuing for platforms like I've seen for some crush events. And the (extra) train I took didn't have overcrowded platforms before the doors opened.

As I understand, there are more questions than answers at this time amongst transitioning employees.
