GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

Closest thing we will get now is GO RER and the 407 Transitway. Both imo not nearly as good as the ALRT plan. The speed and frequency would be unmatched, if it lived up to its hype.
I'd assume with the province's latest Transportation plan, the central 407 transitway would be replaced by the Ontario Line extension, and the spurs to Oshawa and Burlington would be the same technology.

You are correct. The MTO 2051 plan removed the bus transitway and replaced it with a regional metro. I'd assume the REM is the inspiration.

Actually, it’s remarkable how many rail watchers obsess about locomotives and railcars but don’t pay attention to things like signalling or maintenance of way or railcar management. Railroading is fascinating in many areas besides “equipment”

RMtransit does a great job in highlighting some of the downfalls of increasing train frequency with out actually increasing the quality of our Go trains themselves. With all these Go upgrades on the system, is that if we continue to use bilevel designs coaches we will not reap the rewards of all this electrification.

While true, swapping out to EMUs later in the game is not a huge net cost, as long as you keep with standardized systems, and arent buying any new bilevels. So at least things are moving in the same direction.
 
is high floor/platform another one of those things Metrolinx has fobbed off on being a future onxpress decision? I have difficulty believing it is something that is anywhere our near future.
 

While this correspondence is about the proposed Downtown Brampton Transit Hub terminal location, interestingly it shows the "PROPOSED GO STATION PROPERTY LINE" for the new third track/platform at the Brampton Station. It doesn't literally show the third track but I believe this is the first time we've seen public civil drawing-level plans that confirm its extent.

The developer Tribute wants Railroad Street to remain open with whatever option is chosen for the Downtown Brampton Transit Hub. Through the upcoming study process by the City, we'll see if that's possible. Tribute is arguing that closing Railroad Street will result in less housing supply via their proposed development. I'm not sure where it stands in the Planning Act process.
