GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

As I write this, CN work crews are commissioning the new controlled location at Waterdown West, which connects the west end of track 4 back to the mainline. This will allow half-hourly service to Hamilton using only a single track between Bayview and Burlington West, keeping GO trains separate from CN's busy mainline.

I posted some preliminary photos in this Twitter thread, and will post some higher-quality ones once I dump my SD cards off my good camera. Since I'm out here already, I may as well stick around for another few hours till sunrise to get some photos by daylight.
Awesome stuff, thanks for covering it!

Bramalea station is just begging for better service. Hopefully that rumoured all-week half hourly service can start soon.
I'm guessing that it's waiting for the completion of the 4th track at Weston station. So not this schedule change, but potentially the next one.

^ Maybe I missed it but what did the May staff report say?

This presents an unforeseen financial challenge for the town in order to complete this critical infrastructure enhancement. Town Council asked staff to explore all options to finalize a new cost sharing arrangement based on the latest project cost. Staff will report back to Council with options by May 2022.

turns out dealing with a bit of construction work closures significantly speed the project up...who knew

Stephen said Metrolinx also presented an option to reduce the municipal partners’ share further by $2 million each if the two municipalities agreed to a 12-month road closure of Burloak Drive from Wyecroft Road to Superior Court near the end of the construction period.

The closure, which Oakville council agreed to, would result in cost savings as a result of the elimination of the work to switch traffic from the detour road to the permanent road.
It would also allow the majority of roadworks to occur in unison instead of a sequenced approach.
