GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

From the article:

Last week trees were cleared alongside the tracks’ right-of-way between Wildwood Crescent and Woodbine Avenue for a fiber optic cable and a new manhole.

How is this word not personhole? Really! The misogyny is infuriating! :p

It will be interesting to hear all the people's stories of how things have changed when they return to work this fall/winter. Agincourt done, hopefully Union Station fully open, Milliken well underway (but a mess), Rutherford close to opening. Most of the work will have happened during Covid times and will seem to have magically appeared to the travelling public.

No idea (though I haven't heard that one) ... even when I was in school over 30 years ago, you'd use maintenance hole.

The worst one I keep hearing, is mandoor (as opposed to vehicle door). Though perhaps that one has finally died out ... haven't heard it for a while. Or perhaps I haven't had to deal with a building design team in a while ...

Most importantly imo is double tracking on Barrie and Stouffville, and the 401 tunnel on Kitchener. There will suddenly be 3 more "All Day 2 Way, 7 days a week" lines. The majority of the GO system will operate like the Lakeshore lines.

When's the double tracking on Barrie going to start? I've seen no news on this despite them saying we would know more by this point in time.

This was the Metrolinx Engage presentation from last May for the Maple GO upgrades: https://www.metrolinxengage.com/sites/default/files/lindenshire_boards_-_final.pdf, and more specifically I want to highlight this section.

I visited Maple about a month ago, and shovels haven't hit the ground yet, and Metrolinx's website (https://www.gotransit.com/en/the-future-go/improvements/maple) still says they haven't found a contractor yet (note where it says Updated March 4 so this is still quite recent):

Was there some announcement of delays or something?
