Evocative Images of Lost Toronto

Iopix, You'll have to tell me when I posted that and to which hotel I was referring.
I'm surprised that any photos have disappeared
Perhaps there's a time limit imposed by UT administration.

If you click on the arrow next to your name ("Goldie said:") in Lopix's post, it will take you to your original post he is quoting. (It took me awhile to notice this feature)

Your original post had a photo of the Waldorf Astoria hotel buildings at 80 and 88 Charles Street East.

Thanks for that tip, Skeezix.
I was able to find the original page (March 2016), but am unable to recall where I obtained the missing photo.

Some pics of King &Bay from the Toronto Star Archives that are now on the TPL website:

During the Bank of Toronto's demolition, 1966. As we know, a number of fragments ended up at the Guild Inn. As much as I love Mies ' banking pavilion, the block should have been designed to retain the 1913 corner:

Does anyone know if this building has been preserved to this day?
I believe the 1979 photo shows York St. -- OR?
A current image would be nice to have.

Or do you mean the tiny building ? On another note Guild Inn makes me rathe sad and reminds me of what was lost due to developers.

I was definately referring to the "Barber Shop" building.
Is it still there?

No; definitely not. 150 York (the final component of the complex including the mirrored cube in the background and the present-day Hilton) was built shortly after to the left, and it forced (how soon, I don't know) the barbershop's demolition--at any rate, the site is now a meagre smoking-break parkette lodged btw/150 York's service alley and the Hilton parking ramp (already visible in the photo)
