Evocative Images of Lost Toronto

[h=2]re: More footage from Ackerman grocery story Victoria Dat Weekend - Dundas and Elizabeth[/h]
video is marked private i'm afraid....

0:00-00--00:04:13 has amazing visuals of Yonge Street circa 1981, with shots of long gone gay bars like The Parkside and St. Charles.

the entire doc, about the 1981 bathhouse raids, is extremely interesting.

I'm surprised the documentary is as long as it is... 90 minutes. I'd expect something that that length about the Stonewall Riot in New York, but Canadian stories usually get short shrift... even here in Canada. :)

it is long, too long probably. but there was no market for it anyway so it may not matter. i'm not sure how they even pulled it off. back then there was no Telefilm, Canada Media Fund etc, no tax credits for documentaries, CBC didn't show indie docs, and Hot Docs didn't exist. totally different world.
great one for the time capsule anyway....

Now that the weather is better, we can now start thinking about garden parties....
