Cycling: West Toronto Railpath (City of Toronto, Phase II Proposed)

The work below the railpath section on Annette/Dupont is complete and the railing has been repainted, but the bridge segment on the path itself is still closed to pedestrians.

It's sad that the railpath used to be the pride and joy of pedestrian life in the west end - it was one of the only consistently maintained walkways in winter, always plowed and liberally salted. It's currently a skating rink or pure ice, in the pic below there are half a dozen pedestrians walking on the grass section instead of the icy path. 311 submitted but let's see...

Perhaps but would Big Mouth Brad do better? I doubt it!!
I find Ass Assford is a more appropriate name for him these days given the ridiculous rhetoric coming from him over the past year or so.

I'm particularly fond of Brad Bradbrad or even better, Sad Sadsad
A lot of folks call him Bad Badford, but I find that is too polite these days.

Anyway, we better get back to the Railpath topic before things get too out of hand. ;) Disappointed how it's a skating rink per @bedoozled's recent post.

Parks is responsible for maintaining the railpath.

I'm not sure who the supervisor is for this stretch, but if you are talking to 311, you should ask for their name and contact info.

You may be able to reach out directly, or alternatively you can identify to a staffer in the councillor's office exactly where pressure needs to be applied.

PS, nothing moves Parks faster than going through the Councillor's office.....

Thank you! My 311 request said it would be completed "within 3 days" so I'll check again on Sunday when I am penguin waddling my way through and then escalate...

To be fair, many many many paths and sidewalks in southern Ontario cities looked like this; a warm-up followed by a flash freeze. But that's also a symptom of many southern Ontario cities not being proactive or sophisticated enough to pre-clear / pre-treat before weather like this.

Got a notice that my request was marked as closed but I walked by today and the path is completely flooded with about a foot of water, so I will file a new request (or reopen the old one?) Maybe it's just melted from the sides of the path but they should put in some bumper reinforcements on either side in that case. Don't recall this happening in past winters...

Also, I saw actual workers on the small bridge section on Dupont/Annette laying down new surface with a road roller, maybe that means it's about to reopen! 🙏
