Canada inches toward private medicine

Watch your tongue young man, there are ladies present. This is the Internet.

Oh god dont get me started on the NHS.

I finally registered with a doctor over here 3 weeks ago as I need to get some bloods done (just need to check up every 3 months).

wait 5 days for appointment
see doctor,
wait 3 days for blood tests with nurse
wait a week for results, no GP consultation, just ring up and see if there's a 'tell patient to make another appointment' flag on the results.

constrast that with what I usually do back home with a bulk billing (medicare) doctor:

ring doctor, 50/50 chance of getting appointment on same day, if not, the next
bloods the next day, sometimes even same day if GP appointment in the morning.
book appointment with doctor in 2 days time and get results during consultation and none of this ringing up and getting a vague answer of my results from a medical receptionist.

the only difference with a non-bulk billing doctor would be I'd pay for the consultation(s) in full on the day, and get about 65% of it back with a cheque from the Reserve Bank of Australia a few days later.

The NHS is just out-fikkin-rageous.

rant over.
