Brownstones on Bloor (e of Sterling, Montevallo, 5s)

Details are wrong. The architect probably battled with the developer on this one and so we get a confused muddle of modern and traditional styles. While the brick is nice, the aforementioned accessory details like the doors, the mechanical sheds, and the weird fence on the roof all look like they were taken from the scratch and dent bin at Home Depot.

Overall, good idea, but poorly executed detail.
 
the metal siding on the rooftop structure is hideous ! in absence of that element the brick is not too bad ~

It looks like they dumped some shipping containers on the roof. This, along with BeBloor, is among the worst looking developments in the past decade in Toronto. It's a new low, a real achievement in ugly design, which will weigh down the immediate area. Even on a project with a more contemporary design those grey boxes on the roof wouldn't be good looking. It's unsurprising from the name "Brownstones..." and the brick facades that the people responsible for this had no clue what they were doing. Lastly, this development is on Bloor Street, so where's the retail?
 
Lol these look no different than the Regent Park low-rise projects. Some more detailing would be nice...
 
Jesus H. Christ. What twisted reality are we living in when beautiful heritage buildings like 335 Yonge get firebombed and nobody cares, while this absolute dreck is allowed to be built right on one of our most important avenues?

7. Interesting elements.
8. Not bad, and not way-out-in-the-sticks: this is immediately north of The Plateau!
9. Not bad, but not exciting. Yes, much better than Brownstains on Bloor.
10. Corner building not bad.

Overall, I agree, Montreal's new low-rise residential buildings are generally preferable to the Vic-Schtick we are often saddled with here.

except for #2, i'd like to see stuff like that here in TO and choose any of them over this project's bastardization of a 'brownstone'
 
I still can't believe that no retail was included on this entire stretch of Bloor, on both the north and south sides. How could the city have allowed this?
