2006 Olympic hockey, Wayne Betzky, etc.

Picture of said fly (sorry, didn't realize it was in black and white, but suffice to say that black dot is the fly)

Visual clue: spmarshall is drinking red wine, so it couldn't be in his glass, could it?

that's not ganjavih. some sort of imposter.

ganjavih looks like this:

and since this is supposed to be a hockey thread: canada will win gold. no question. the only thing that could make it more certain would be if it was a best of seven series.

I'll predict right now, based on all the distractions and so forth, Canada will not repeat at Olympic Hockey Gold Champions. The team isn't as strong as 2002, but that won't be used as the excuse - all this other stuff will.

Actually, I think that these distractions will be beneficial to the team...they'll take some of the pressure and spotlight off of them.

Ok, time to list the players:

1) The good (might be a short list)
2) The bad
3) The ugly
4) The WTF were they thinking when they included you in Team Canada?!?!

The ugly would have to be Sakic for today. Looked his age. Couldn't handle the puck at any times and looked like he was attached to a rope most of the game.

WTF would have to go to Pronger. Took way to many penalties

OK - so now those of us who loathed the fact that Brute-uzi was named to the Olympic team now don't have to hear the "told you so" if we did win a gold metal from the likes of Don Cherry.

And the women shone.

Terrible tournament for the men's team. At some points it seemed like they didn't even want to be there.

Credit the Russian team though...they played a fantastic game.

I hope we won't be seeing certain players in a Canadian uniform again...most notably Bertuzzi.

Bertuzzi had his ass in the penalty box on a dumb interference call when Russia scored the first goal. Idiot.

As for the rest of the "team" they aren't one, and never were. Show up the night before the first game and this is what you can expect. The girls showed the world how it's done - train together for months, then dominate the world and walk away with gold again.

Good cartoon on the front page of today's National Post (sorry I don't have a scanner): Coach addressing the men's team, tells them to "Play like girls".

The team was a big disappointment. What was Bertuzzi thinking when he took a totally stupid and useless penalty today in the early third period, with the score 0-0, and gave the Russians their first goal? Several people looked listless. We are now hearing that more than one of them may have been playing hurt, and if so they should have taken themselves off the team. Canada has enough other good players who could have taken their places.

Certainly hope we can do better than this in 2010 in Vancouver, or people will want blood.:(

To come down on a moderate-pro Bertuzzi side, I thought he was one of our stronger players throughout the tournament. I didn't see the penalty he took during the game against Russia, but I do remember seeing his hussle and forechecking at a time when maybe one or two other guys were doing the same.
