    The Junction

I've heard that the empty Blockbuster store is going to become a Dollarama, and the McBrides site is in the process of getting approval for a 7 story condominium.

Heintzman Place (formerly Village By High Park, Junction, Options, 23s, Burka)

I agree, although it does sort of resemble a giant warehouse or factory from the 30s or 40s from the North side, this is what the Junction was known for. This building suits the neighbourhood very well, while acknowledging history. Some glass and concrete modern building would have looked...

Heintzman Place (formerly Village By High Park, Junction, Options, 23s, Burka)

This angle shows how the building effectively acts as a sound barrier for the entire neighbourhood. The building itself is designed to minimize any sound or train-related vibrations. It's also made a good part of the Junction significantly quieter. I think that although it's large, it's pretty...

I totally disagree with some of these comments. I really wasn't expecting much when I first saw the drawings, but if you walk around the site, the attention to detail and quality are way beyond what I expected. I think it's a beautiful building.

Also, part of the deal when Options for Homes purchased the site from Canadian Tire was that the gas bar is permitted to operate indefinitely.

Heintzman Place (formerly Village By High Park, Junction, Options, 23s, Burka)

The problem is that the site is very contaminated due to the gas station being there for years. This was a concern with the Village By High Park as well, but fortunately due to the grade, most contamination ran off South, so it ended up not being much of an issue. The gas bar will likely remain...

Yeah, how can we band together and convince Money Mart to take off? It's such a beautiful building that they occupy with their scamming poor people business.

Makes sense. I'm sure this is true, but with bigger parcels of land, a developer is going to be able to spread the cost of decontaminating across more residential purchasers. It's probably more reasonable than this small site.

The problem with the Canadian Tire gas station is that the land will likely be very contaminated, which will make it quite difficult to convert it to residential land use.

The first tentative occupancy dates begin this August, with all purchasers scheduled to be moved in by March 2011.

I would argue that your view might actually improve ;)

The second construction crane is now up!

Oh, it's all planned. The builder just didn't sell them at the time of purchase to make sure that they didn't sell out of parking before selling out the building. You are not guaranteed the right to buy a parking spot or a locker in this development. They will be sold on a first come first...

One more thing: The construction of the slab and first level could be seen in the next month, as excavation of the one underground parking floor will be done after the ground thaws, and can be heated and enclosed by the above construction.

Crane number 1 went up last week. There will be another crane going up in a couple months. Occupancy is still scheduled to begin in Spring 2010. The construction downturn may actually result in the work speeding up because construction and trades workers could be more available if other projects...

Hey, white people are smart too! This Queen's Centre looks amazing. I think that both of Toronto's downtown Universities could benefit from something similar.

    The Junction

I really like this idea too. Perhaps one of the biggest residents' concerns though will be that it will not work for people who take the jane LRT to get to the subway line going West. Their routes would be significantly lengthened compared to the existing Jane Bus. If you work out by Kipling and...

    The Junction

An article about the Junction in September's Toronto Life http://www.torontolife.com/features/extreme-junction/ "At long last, the west-end nabe is booming It wasn’t so long ago that prostitutes and their johns used the Junction as their clubhouse, but now, with high-end cafés, haute...
