    PM Justin Trudeau's Canada

If Bloomberg is correct on a potentially $60B deficit it's almost 100x. That's not even the worst part. All that spending and we still have no high speed rail, still have a housing crisis and a rusted out military. Prioritizing social spending over capital investment will have proven to be...

    Canada and the World

Not much to say. It's in the middle of nowhere. And increasingly Europeans don't find the training value justifiable to ship equipment to the East Coast and then train it to Suffield. Only to then do the reverse when leaving. We don't really like doing that either. Hard to fault the...

Oops I meant post. Not rail.

    Canada and the World

Tunisia. Birthplace of the Arab Spring. People forget that a lot of the Middle East is a mess because of colonial legacy. Borders drawn arbitrarily by powers not native to the region. Centuries of resources taken from there and their civil societies dismantled and recentered on London...

    PM Justin Trudeau's Canada

Ironically mail is most essential in rural areas. Not really essential in cities.

This really pissed me off. It just pushes up antipathy towards the Ukrainian cause. This is some shitty nihilism and they know it.

    PM Justin Trudeau's Canada

Running for leadership is always going to be hard. But if we set the bar at perfection for the Opposition during what is essentially a Primary, well, eventually you'll get Poilievre. Are we better off?

    PM Justin Trudeau's Canada

If Erin O'Toole had been elected in 2021, we probably wouldn't have seen this. But we all rejected the actual progressive conservative because he had a slightly different plan and so now we're going to get the pandering populist we deserve. I was listening to Nate Erskine-Smith's interview...

And yet in the stats I saw nearly a fifth of those caught by CBP were Canadian citizens. Maybe they believe it's harder to be tracked if they do? Who knows.

The coming $26 billion windfall for the Canadian Armed Forces. What to buy?

I wouldn't get too hung up on this. Most countries with volunteer militaries aren't putting millions in uniform.

The coming $26 billion windfall for the Canadian Armed Forces. What to buy?

3% is never happening. I say this as a serving member. We don't have the capacity to absorb that kind of spending. And the taxes and/or cuts required would kill any government politically. For reference, 3% of GDP would be more than OAS.

Will add too. Going to war in central and northern Mexico (where most of the cartels are) is a surefire way to end up with a large refugee crisis at the US border. Among many reasons why retired officers who understand the country are warning against this. But we all know experts are out of...

    PM Justin Trudeau's Canada

I find it hard to believe that a bunch of red states who have just been gifted a bunch of high tech manufacturing will simply roll over on it to please Trump. But then again, America these days....

Former President Donald Trump's United States of America

I understand their emotions and motivations. I'm just calling it now that it will be a shitshow that fails because they fail to understand the root of the problem and massively underestimate the threat. There are actual retired high ranking SOF openly speaking out and calling this dumb. And...

Former President Donald Trump's United States of America

Very doubtful. The whole point of "Fortress North America" is to reduce the friction between our two countries. We will never thicken our side of the border because it impacts trade. Ultimately, a lot of this is just a law enforcement problem. To that end, I have a childhood friend who was...

Former President Donald Trump's United States of America

Indeed, the reason why Mexico has such a bad problem with the cartels is because of the flow of arms from the US. And anybody who just thinks these are gangbangers are sorely mistaken. Some of these groups are better armed than actual militaries. I'm talking issued body armour, armoured...

Former President Donald Trump's United States of America

First off, let's not pretend this is just Indians when only a fifth of those caught are Indian. And the proportion is nearly the same as actual Canadians crossing illegaly. Next, like I said above, it's the same group likely causing all the problems. Those at the lower end of the quality...
