i don't think they're walking away either. i think they smell opportunity to get some money back.

yea i'd prefer the sign over the entrance but oh well.

i'd like to see that but i feel like this city makes it impossible. Probably need a permit, a steep fee for the permit and insane rules and whatever sort of small vendor selling jewelry won't be able to make a profit while the city brings it all in under the guise of their new project "MerchantTO"

i disagree that all new ballparks are looking for a view. The ones you provided do but you're also cherry picking. Look at Miller Park and the terrible Marlins Park. I think Miller Park is beautiful and i love the configuration and the glass wall. A view would be desirable but it should take...

not sure why people keep bringing up the island. what's the benefit there? the view? the view is nice but should take a back seat to absolutely everything else. I love the view at PNC park for about 10 minutes before the game starts then I focus on the game. I go to maybe 20 games a year and...

but then what are the people who dump their concrete under there (under the guise of gardiner rubble) supposed to do with their waste?

yea, unfortunately things like lockdowns and pandemics don't provide accurate timelines to get work done.

    Toronto 2002 Lake Shore West | 122m | 36s | Marlin Spring | Graziani + Corazza

the NXT water issues were bad. there were 4 levels of parking. i was on P2 and the walls were leaking. there were areas where water was seeping through the concrete and dripping on cars and would stain the car permanently. there were plenty of residents that couldn't use their parking spot...

how is underground parking around here? I lived in NXT and there was underground parking but when i sold my unit, it was leaky as hell and they were essentially rebuilding it. the towers southeast of it all have above grade parking. I had assumed it was because of the water table around here....

this would fit in well in Mississauga

    Toronto Union Centre | 298m | 54s | Westbank | Bjarke Ingels Group

i'm aware of that, but if you look at CIBC square, it's essentially 2 towers fused together by a line in the middle. They can easily shrink this floor plate. I don't know where I can find the data that compares the floorplates of office towers but i would be interested in seeing the size of...

that's exactly how i feel about CIBC square. it's too chunky.

yea, kind of has a data center vibe to it currently. i'm sure it'll tie in nicely but right now as a standalone unit, it looks kind of meh.

they're probably meeting to figure out how to make it cheaper

    Mississauga 3085 Hurontario Street | 149.96m | 44s | Equity Three Holdings | Diamond Schmitt

is there retail on the ground level there? for some reason that doesn't look like retail to me. If it's on the LRT route, they'll want to make every stop a destination of sorts and this podium should be all retail.

    Toronto 83 Bloor West | 260.25m | 77s | Parallax | Arcadis

i don't know. it looks pretty ugly to me. It meets the street nicely but i don't like the residence lobby being on bloor street, it's going to kill that little area. The retail that is offered in that podium sees small and oddly shaped. Also, far too many studio units in there.

Rogers makes lots of mistakes. their ridiculously expensive NHL broadcast deal is one of them. Buying the skydome is not. they bought it for $25MM and they owned the team and the channels it airs on. That's a no brainer decision to make. i'm not sure why Retro is not good in 2022 but all...

good to know. i thought i read somewhere years ago about the flaw of them and what it looks like on TV and there was some upper executive somewhere (not sure if it was a league exec or a team exec) that had it out for them.

i was under the impression that nobody really wants those suites under the seats because of the optics. have more stadiums/arenas put those in after Scotia? they seemed like a good idea but now the platinum section at the Raptors and leafs game always look half empty. I've been to a few games...

i agree. it's partially what makes it feel so closed off. at least get rid of it in the outfield.
