November saw Toronto's annual Santa Claus Parade pass by and colder weather settle in, along with plenty of activity to keep UrbanToronto readers engaged. Let's review our top stories, database files, and threads for November, 2024.
Our Top Ten Most Read News Stories
Coming in at #15, discussions on cycling infrastructure have intensified with the Ontario government’s passing of Bill 212, the so called “Reducing Gridlock, Saving You Time Act, 2024.” The bill gives the province authority over bike lane development and removal in cities, with specifically targeting high-profile bike lanes on Bloor and Yonge streets and University Avenue. While there was backlash — we reported on hundreds of cyclists rallying at Queen’s Park on October 24 — the City of Toronto is now considering its response to the bill.
15. Toronto’s Bike Lane Feud at an All-Time High
Nearly all of the rest of the top ten stories focus on new or revised (mostly) residential developments across the city, everything from towers or whole neighbourhoods. Along with those, one construction update story snuck into the mix:

Of the rest of the top ten, the usual suspects are there, with some shifting in the 6-to-10 section including one recent return to the list (#9), while the top five remained unchanged from last month.

Our Top Ten Busiest Threads
Concord Canada House continues to draw attention as construction nears completion on its 64- and 74-storey towers near the CN Tower and Rogers Centre. The final addition to Concord Adex's CityPlace community, the design by Arcadis features a maple leaf motif across its facades that Forum members shared updates on throughout November, including glazing installation progress on the west tower's mechanical penthouse.
Unsurprisingly, our busiest threads remain a combination of tall towers and new transit lines (plus one giant transit hub that seems to forever be under construction)! Decked out for the holiday season, #10 re-entered the list, numbers 9 through 2 jostled with each other a little bit since October, while no matter what happens, it seems, #1 just cannot be pried from the top of the list, nor our skyline!
10. The Well
9. Forma
8. Union Station Revitalization
7. CIBC SQUARE
6. KING Toronto
4. Lower Don Lands Redevelopment
2. Eglinton Line 5 Crosstown LRT
