And the TMU press release is here At last, TMU will have a "face" on YD Square - really marking the entrance to the University. Fair enough.

    2023 Toronto Mayoral by-election

Oof Celina Caesar-Chavannes got just 253 votes. Not even a modicum of name recognition helped... And I noticed Mammoliti managed to get banned from twitter. Oh well!

    Mayor John Tory's Toronto

See you later, Tory. I don't think they'll be building a statue of you in years to come, lets put it that way.

TTC Fleet Procurement Strategy - 2022

true - but service life is usually the period of time when a rolling stock performs consistently at a reliable level. The 51 year old Bakerloo line trains are literally rusting away, and London has a central government that doesn't care enough to fund replacements...

TTC Fleet Procurement Strategy - 2022

If the T1 trains had been overhauled.... By 2030, the trains will be 35 years old and at end of life...

TTC Fleet Procurement Strategy - 2022

Utterly embarrassing really - completely agree with this. Imagine how silly the Scarborough Subway will look in 203x, served by knackered unreliable trains... or no trains at all! My bleak bit of hope is that the TTC is playing 4D chess, and have cancelled the RFP to get the province/Ottawa to...

    2023 Toronto Mayoral by-election

I do hope that Tory's u-turn by endorsing Bailão backfires. The sudden realisation from the right and centre-right in the last week that the election looks like Chow's to lose has been ... interesting to watch.

    Toronto Ontario Line 3 | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

They aren't necessary given international examples - but North American practice is to include them, therefore more excavation is required. In the Ontario line's case - the trains will be separated from the platforms, so there's already a fire break! For example, fare gates located above the...

    Toronto Ontario Line 3 | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

I continue to be surprised that Moss Park doesn't need an emergency exit at the far end of the cut and cover station box - for emergency use, there's a very long corridor from the far end back to the station pavilion.

    Toronto Ontario Line 3 | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

Honestly, huge congrats to UTers for pushing for these documents. I'll continue to be annoyed about the full height mezzanines (when Crossrail and Sydney Metro show that they're not necessary to meet very stringent fire/evacuation regulations) but that's a story for another day.

    Toronto Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

Also - instead of starting with a P3 LRT project on Finch etc, ML had their first P3 LRT project be the longest line, with a complex mix of technologies, build methods and interfaces. Maybe if Sheppard East, Scarborough or Finch had been built first - the ML team would have been more...

    Eglinton East LRT | Metrolinx

I hope that Finch West will demonstrate the benefits of replacing high ridership bus corridors with light rail sooner rather than later - bus lanes can only go so far (even with express buses and artics) compared to a proper segregated tram with TSP! It's a lot harder to water down a LRT than a...

    Eglinton East LRT | Metrolinx

(The LRT only goes as far as Sheppard-McCowan, where the provincial proposal for a subway also ends. The proposal of subway from Don Mills to McCowan remains)
