Where are all these renderings coming from?

You can actually see a slope up from the GO side to the Ontario Line side (which will presumably be the same height the GO platforms will be in the future if they are raised for level boarding). The slope begins from the left side of the stairs.

GO RER/Expansion service levels will be fine with the current platforms, which is being modified to be much more efficient for operations and more spacious for passengers. I’m sure VIA has been taken into account for this too. HFR though, not sure what they’ll do but if it’s going to be this...

Union with a more efficient USRC layout will never need another layer of tracks below the station (HFR excluded), but in previous proposals to add another set of platforms below Union, they would be placed under the streetcar line:

The subway doesn’t go under the tracks, the streetcars do but the subway doesn’t:

I noticed in the video Metrolinx made about the VR system that OnXpress is using, you can see both the new elevated pedestrian bridges connecting all the platforms being extended outside of the shed. The west bridge seems to come out above what will eventually be the former UP Express terminal...

GO Expansion definitely will do that, and travel times might just be good enough to not require express trains. Only time will tell though (for the record I’m not disagreeing with you, I think Barrie express trains would be great)
