    Snow/ice clearance and winter tires

LOL. If I had a nickel each time the subway shut down north of Eglinton West or east of Victoria Park due to inclement weather...

    TTC: Sheppard Subway Expansion (Speculative)

30K/hour is the maximum, not the golden standard. The threshold I've seen in press is always around the magic 10K/hour number. 25.5 trains per hour/1000 passengers per T1 train = 25,500 pph The Yonge line south of Bloor is running at close to 28,500 pph at peak. The Bloor line...

    TTC: Sheppard Subway Expansion (Speculative)

The peak point at Eglinton is already in its own tunnel, same for Sheppard.

They locate downtown because it's easy to get there from anywhere in the GTA. NYCC and STC can't compete.

Obviously it's an insurmountable problem so we should flush $8 billion to grade separate everything as the logical next step.

Don't be so disingenuous. Going into debt to buy a 1,200 sqft home for a family of 4 is a little different from going out and buying a 12,000 sqft home for the same family.

Fords Working to Fire Webster, Stintz, Scrap Streetcars: Star

LOL. What a load of partisan crap. Writing a report that poured cold water on the mayor's ideas is considered orchestrating a coup? I'd consider the act of suppressing the report from the public far more egregious.

    Transit City Plan

Eglinton or Sheppard subway won't fix that traffic but keep repeating it here and elsewhere.

doady knows passenger volumes drop by 50% once you cross Steeles.

    Transit City Plan

What reasons are there for that? Are there lots of people along Bloor/Dundas that are moving to points on Bloor West in Toronto? Enough to justify the expense? When Mississauga has never wanted to spend a cent on it? (is that not a valid reason?)

Why do people keep referring to 47% as a landslide?

Didn't the Vancouver system shutdown last time there was snowfall?

    TTC: Sheppard Subway Expansion (Speculative)

Commuters are by far the biggest "customer" (trip generator) for transit so yes if don't want a line that will bleed money forever, it had better serve that market as a first priority. Build DRL because it was needed back in the 1980s and still needed now.

    Shabby Public Realm

If the local papers are any indication, I have only read about NIMBY opposition to public realm improvements out in the outer 416.

    TTC: Sheppard Subway Expansion (Speculative)

For anyone that missed the numbers from the Sheppard subway report and insist on trotting out the "massive growth" talking point as justification: Employment growth in North York Centre and Scarborough Centre. NYC: 29,400 to 93,400 (1986-2011, projected); 30,200 (2006, actual) a less than 3%...

I am going to assume that you do not live in the city.

And your evidence for these claims are...? Hell I'd even settle for elaboration of your original talking point.

    TTC: Sheppard Subway Expansion (Speculative)

Before the stub on Sheppard opened, there were many times when I was the lone passenger on the 85G STC branch. Maybe everyone always took the first 85 and transferred at McCowan?
