OLG Toronto/GTA casino proposal (where to put it?)

You can try to force the government to open OP again but it was closed for a reason. It was losing money. If it gets opened again it will just be more tax dollars going down the drain. Without a better plan to make it thrive more and bring in earnings or at least enough to negate the losses, it...

    Toronto Queens Quay & Water's Edge Revitalization | ?m | ?s | Waterfront Toronto

I used to take it to York U everyday but after that, I took Finch bus less frequently.

Finch does run extended buses. They're not 2 full buses connected, but 1.5 size. There's an extension at the end of the bus about half the size of regular one and people stand in the middle as well because it's connected. I'm very sure they exist because I've taken it many times. As for the new...

The Housing Market needs to crash.

If you think you can buy a house right after graduation, then you consider yourself entitled to get one. But market says otherwise. The market hasn't really been that affordable for ages. Many have to rent after graduation and work to save money. Otherwise they feed off their parents even after...

    Toronto Queens Quay & Water's Edge Revitalization | ?m | ?s | Waterfront Toronto

Is the street car capacity all the much greater than a bus? I think they're about the same? Maybe slightly more. So it might be better to run more buses since the streetcar can't even handle the capacity. Also, they should run extended buses if it's busy. I know along Finch, it's a busy line so...

DRL routing. Where would you put it?

Someone posted MTCC is sold already and it's not to GO. Oxford bought it.

OLG Toronto/GTA casino proposal (where to put it?)

It's better to spread it out I think. Too much of anything is not good. Too many clubs creates problems and they're being pushed out to various areas now. Too much poverty in one area isn't good, so the city is trying to mix neighbourhoods. Too many casinos in one area will create havoc as well.

    Toronto Queens Quay & Water's Edge Revitalization | ?m | ?s | Waterfront Toronto

Spring 2013 is only a year from now. I don't see problems running the buses for a year and save on fixing the tracks. You mentioned minimal amount of money to put in tracks. How much is minimal with all the materials and labour costs. That money could go towards realigning the tracks. The city...

OLG Toronto/GTA casino proposal (where to put it?)

If it was open all year round, it might generate more income I think? None of the water parks you listed open all year. They open in the summer only. They're also far away in the suburbs and cater to cars. Wonderland has buses that go there, but still pretty far away...

    Toronto Queens Quay & Water's Edge Revitalization | ?m | ?s | Waterfront Toronto

I don't understand. If they are re-aligning the streetcars (from the revitalization plans), why are they fixing the tracks now? Just so they can tear it up again later? I don't see the problem with running buses until they revitalize QQ.

OLG Toronto/GTA casino proposal (where to put it?)

I thought you were referring to building it on OP/Ex land. If you're thinking of having that built on the west donlands, it's not going to happen. There's been environmental assessments and everything done on it already. People want to keep with the plan. Ford wanted to change the plans and got...

OLG Toronto/GTA casino proposal (where to put it?)

That should go on the west donlands. They're building housing and parkland. Might as well add square and fountains. I love those too.

They should get the same recording voice as the female voice from HK's MTR. Or someone with a very clear, loud and understandable voice. I still find it difficult to hear announcements on TTC.

OLG Toronto/GTA casino proposal (where to put it?)

Wonderland is far to access. People go there because there's no other choices for big amusement parks. They have zero competition. Frankly, I hardly go to Wonderland because it's so far away. Also admission prices are pretty steep for huge long line ups. But what you're saying sounds...

OLG Toronto/GTA casino proposal (where to put it?)

Can it really go anywhere? You want it in Etobicoke? Markham? Mississauga? Downtown is more easily accessible and it's closer to a lot of other entertainment complexes. OP got closed because the model isn't working. It was losing money. So we should try something different that can make profit...

OLG Toronto/GTA casino proposal (where to put it?)

So in order to keep the 3 week event, CNE should be an empty ground for the rest of the 49 weeks? Does that even make sense? I haven't been to Edmonton so I wouldn't know. But I think an indoor amusement park would be a good idea in Toronto. People would object to having it on the west don...

OLG Toronto/GTA casino proposal (where to put it?)

Well, the question would be. Does the whole fair ground have to be outdoors? Can part of it be indoors and part outdoors? So even if it's raining, it's still useable? Or maybe even available all year round. If it's not feasible for all year round. Maybe the building can be indoors so that it can...

    Policing Attitudes

I don't think this will work any longer. I've read that they have a law against video taping / recording the police. So if it's illegal, the tape will be worthless in court and you get indicted for breaking the law. Police do tell lies. Though they're sworn to tell the truth and uphold the law...

OLG Toronto/GTA casino proposal (where to put it?)

Eh? What? The city is not building the casino. Why would they cry they need more money for it? The casino MGM is proposing will only occupy 5% of the entertainment complex so it shouldn't be too harmful. If you say having a casino will reduce quality of life. If a large casino is built in...
