Sounds like to me that the casino will be approved. If Front Street is having a massive loss of potential commercial revenue, City Council would be crazy not to approve something that would bring commercial revitalization of this level to the area and bring forth great revenue the city...

Well to be fair, with the warmongering the Ford Brothers are wagering against Stintz and TTC and City Council, more often then not taking pictures of the construction is not as entertaining as the war ;)

That's what I hope this aquarium will be in some respects as well, marine research for the Universities in the GTA. Though I do have some worries, the other Ripley's aquariums that exist can be best described as mediocre from what I've seen.

I wonder if this will be a world class aquarium that will be on par with the Vancouver Aquarium and the Georgia Aquarium.

I really do hope that this project goes through, and that it becomes a supertall.

They should try to improve the design, when you compare it to Oxford Place's casino, this one looks like it was made on a economy budget. I do hope that this plan goes through though.

Guys; remember the old saying "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder"? It applies to architecture to, some people prefer more conservative design choices over the much bolder ideas.

I can't help but feel that they only chose the name because all the good ones were already taken in the GTA.

I don't see any Toyotas in those pictures ;o In any case with the immiment construction of that new GTA arena, downtown will certainly be a lot more lively in a decade or so.

Those are some very skinny towers; reminds me of the Burano.

I think the whole height limit problem is rather BS; height limits should only be used in the cases of safety involving the airplanes that fly in and out of airports. Everything else just feels like a case of NIMBYism to me.

I would imagine that this means that without the casino, that super fancy podium may not look as pretty in reality as it does in the renders as they won't have the money.

I actually love these kinds of shots; because with the fuziness making the frame of this picture, it gives off the look and impression that this is a miniature scale model of the real deal :P

Keep in mind though, the Princess of Wales theatre is not even that old, it was build in 1993.
