Yonge Street Revitalization (Downtown Yonge BIA/City of Toronto)

I studied the plans today. I can see there are only a couple of 100m pedestrian zones. The text says it was intentionally reduced to provide ride share (Uber, Lyft, etc.) access. So pedestrians are second and Uber is first. What purpose to have Dundas Sq. (south) road open for cars makes no...

    Cycling infrastructure (Separated bike lanes)

What do you think will be changing on Woodbine? There still many sections of bike lanes unprotected.

    Cycling infrastructure (Separated bike lanes)

I have some details on a new Bloor St E street design and upgrades for the bike lanes. This is directly form Layton’s office: ”We were just notified that Staff will be installing concrete curbs between Sherbourne and Church later this week to address the issue of cars entering/driving in the...

    Toronto Bike Share

Will there be an expansion in 2021? I thought no budget has been allocated for expansion anymore. Hopefully I’m wrong as we need more ebikes.

    Cycling infrastructure (Separated bike lanes)

How can two city councillors decide on their own to remove such an important north / south connection for cycling?

GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

On the Stouffville Line north of Kennedy Station at the crossing leading to Tara Ave. some kind of wall and box under the ties has been constructed. I was wondering if the pedestrian bridge will be replaced at some point and this is the pre-work. However, I didn’t find anything about it. Can...

    Cycling infrastructure (Separated bike lanes)

It’s convenient to blame BIA’s and to preserve the status quo. IMHO Brad Bradford had the enthusiasm of a first year councillor and is leading Destination Danforth to a success. Two of the local BIA’s opposed the street redesign and the bike lanes. But he managed to convince them. Why is this...

No interest by Layton to make this a success? Danforth the contrary - a success story!

Blood St. East continues to be a disaster.

    Cycling infrastructure (Separated bike lanes)

Absolutely, for this issue at hand a raised temporary platforms is the answer. It is not difficult to install and Obviously much needed. I was even surprised how fast and quick this was done on Universit Avenue!

    Cycling infrastructure (Separated bike lanes)

You might think it is a simple fix. Red tap and bureaucracy can make this a nightmare. Like fire trucks need a wider turn radius, etc. You might get a funny response or they actually will implement it quickly. Overall Becky is doing a good job and much better as we had before!

You need and should report this to Becky Katz, becky.katz@toronto.ca. But also let KWT - the local city councillor know. Thank you very much.

    GO Transit Electrification | Metrolinx

Interesting what Siemens as part of a bidding consortium has to say in terms of hydrogen and battery powered trains. Their Mireo platform can be equipped with both: Diesel multiple units are a thing of the past, at least according to Jochen Steinbauer. As Director of Development for Alternative...

North of the rail diamond the old tracks have been completely removed. Picture taken Sat. evening. Overall, it seems to be a huge and long stretchEd construction site.

Toronto Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport | ?m | ?s | Ports Toronto | Arup

I flew to EWR many times and had much better experience compared to LaGardia where there is only one runway that can cause to flight delays. The train from EWR to Manhattan is great and not even costly.

Toronto Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport | ?m | ?s | Ports Toronto | Arup

Absolutely true. Porter was well liked by business clients flying to NYC and Montreal. E.g. to the RBC office in NYC/ Toronto meetings. Also I was travelling last year weekly to Montreal for business. Ticket prices didn’t matter much. This all stopped. The major banks haven’t people coming to...

    Cycling infrastructure (Separated bike lanes)

What happened to the proposal of Danforth style patios and bike lanes down to Bloor? Did it disappear and Layton pulled out? That would be a very weak move. “Therefore, we are asking that Transportation Services make the investigation of temporary bike lanes on Yonge Street, between Bloor...
