    End of the recession?

I agree. Supporting our delayed real estate bubble is not a good thing.

Should Canada allow the option of private health care?

Doctors in Canada do have the option to opt out of the OHIP payment or other provincial equivalents and receive private payments for services rendered. Not many of them take up this offer for obvious reasons. In a perfect world the Doctors would love to suck and blow at the same time in terms of...

    End of the recession?

Ticking time bomb comes to mind. It's time for a reality check and some hard choices to be made again. The fact is that our federal and provincial governments are following the lead of the Americans. That is dumb. On one hand it's being stated that we are not in the same position as the American...

    Afghanistan debate (Hillier, new troops)

I have not read Hillier's book but I will once the library has it available. Interestingly I have read Hillier's response to the memos about the risk of torture and the torture of people handed over to the Afghani prison authorities. He appears initially to state that he was too busy fighting a...

    Baby, we got a bubble!?

These are the people who are putting 5% down and taking out 35 year mortgages....the same people AIG salivated for until the current federal government put a stop to it and bought that risk back at the beginning of this current recession. These same people are buying and hence they are the cause...

    Baby, we got a bubble!?

http://www.yourhome.ca/homes/newsfeatures/article/719628--real-estate-fees-could-be-slashed# Cost cuts should also help :-) I think there is going to be a housing bubble because people are buying what they seriously can't afford. Agents beware, you might need a backup career. Current federal...

Obviously you have not read Will Ferguson's book "Bastards and Boneheads", it classifies the best and the worst PMs historically. Read much?

    End of the recession?

http://www.financialpost.com/story.html?id=2165351 Once again the BoC gets it wrong. The current ruling party continues to get it wrong. Reality bites but sooner rather than later we all have to deal with it! To those who think the Canadian economy somehow managed to soften the recession blow...

I don't have to wait for the review, I trust the word of the Canadian who spent 8 days in jail and is now home with a serious breathing problem.

    End of the recession?

You saying this current Canadian federal government and the BoC have not been encouraging bailout cash to flow? I most certainly am suggesting that many corporations are cooking their books. Some have been caught and are quite please that regular folks don't regularly read court dockets.

    End of the recession?

John Hussman - PhD economist and former professor of economics and international finance at the University of Michigan - has a great quote: If you look carefully at the economic data that shows improvement, and correct for the impact of government outlays, it is difficult to find anything...

GM and Chrysler business model exposed

I don't recall our federal government asking the tax payers if giving GM our tax dollars was ok, in fact they called it a loan and then told us it was a loan they did not expect to be paid back. All the complaining about garbage collectors seems trivial by comparison.
