John Street Ideas Competition - TED BIA - Support The ORE

I have not seen a thread on this yet, but could be wrong (mods, move this if need be to its proper location). The Toronto Entertainment District BIA is having a design competition for ideas to redo the square on the south east corner of King St. W and John St...

    Toronto SIX50 King West | ?m | 16s | Freed | Core Architects

Perhaps they could not get the tie-back agreements from the landowners on the north wall?

Rudy seems to be really getting inspiration from a truly structural skeleton form and you're right, he is on a roll. Very refreshing!

Project was refused today by Committee of Adjustment. Interesting to see what happens next. S'Bus

Those are indeed new layouts which broke apart the D13 layout, which was a 2 bedroom plus den @1350 sqft from floors 3-10. Considering that if this was opening weekend, the new A9 and B9s would have been sold out, so, go for it if you are interested but those layouts arent the best. S'Bus

the charcoal opera house brick is laid on the ground floor on the north side, looks good too

Tarion new home inspections + compensation from builders.

One way to do this is to get your Tarion rep to write in their report that you have to move out again etc. If that seems unreasonable to you, then you can appeal to Tarion in a process where you pay $100 or $150 as a fee (cant remember the figure). In the form that you use for the appeal...

    Toronto King Charlotte | 114.9m | 32s | Lamb Dev Corp | a—A

I will take a crack at this: 485 King West (current sweat shop in the back) 555 King West (current perfect leather joint) Both these properties are ripe for a nice and small 11 storey exclusive building on King, similar to Freed's 500 Wellington West project.

Victory is just a couple of floors from topping off. Maybe 6 weeks to go. They have already started block work and insulation on the ground floor.

    Toronto The Berczy | 41.76m | 13s | Concert | Arcadis

I have to somewhat disagree with the layout comment. Compare these layouts with Thompson Residences which are selling for $100/sqft higher and let's talk. The Berczy has alot of good layouts but like anything else, it's not perfect and there are some wonky suites. There are less "bowling alley"...

Freed has no money. He will take his time as he always does. Gotta sell some units at 500 Wellington!

    Cresford Hell pls help!

I have experience with Cresford, all the way up to the top with President Dan Casey. PLEASE CONTACT YOUR TARION REP AND DEMAND THEY COME TO YOUR SUITE IMMEDIATELY. Relying on Cresford staff is a complete waste of time. The Tarion Rep, the Tarion Rep's boss is your path, call them every...

With a half decent winter, it will be tight but possible. I'd guess though likely Jan/Feb more than Dec as trade work during that month is so poor for completion.

12 floors only on the north side. Its 10 on the south side. The floorplate isnt really that big either as its probably only 2/3 of the garage area in total, if that. It will rise quick. Look at Tridel's Reve, it's climbing fast!

    Toronto 400 Wellington West | 38m | 12s | Sorbara | SMV

My prediction before was that by end of Sept, the concrete will be at grade and it looks like it will be bang on. I'd say another 5-6 months of concrete work, so with winter/xmas etc, I expect the last concrete pour to be in March 2010. The co-ordination by the contractor seems to be very good...

The rendering is abit of an illusion with the shadowing. I dont believe there is a steel structure. That being said, the scale model builder really didnt capture the essence of the darker tones of the brickwork on the king elevation.

COMING SOON! Bridging the Design Gap - a UT design charette

I believe the piers for the bridge may have been poured a couple of months ago. I need to get a pic to see if this makes sense or not.

Berczy Condos, The (Concert Properties) - Real Estate -

First construction element will be the demolition of the northern buildings of the sales office and then the careful brick by brick demo of the southern building where they hope to use that reclaimed brick later. Its going to go slow for a while me thinks.

    Toronto Backstage On The Esplanade | 116.73m | 36s | Cityzen | P + S / IBI

I put in my suggestion tonight. PICCADILLY POINT My rationale was the following: Picking up on the British reference for London on the Esplanade condos, the various pubs on the street and the wedge/pointy shape of the property. Here is the link for voting. If you like it, give it a...

The ramp, the forming and the pour on the north side (floor of P2) was all done this week with guys working into Saturday for saw cuts. With this pace, perhaps, sometime in October, they could hit grade.
