    Mayor Olivia Chow's Toronto

I am not looking forward to hearing from people who should know better (i.e. worked with Tory) about this budget ... If there are 'efficiencies' to be found, why didn't you find them when you were running Council? I disagree with him, but I do appreciate that Burnside is upfront with what he...

    Old City Hall Proposals

Did I dream about TMU thinking about talking some of the space?

    Toronto Jane and Finch Mall Redevelopment | 156.8m | 47s | Brad-Jay | BDP Quadrangle

Looks good... although this street does seem redundant by the final phase... Surely a larger park would outweigh the marginal transportation improvement (and if you want a walking/cycling route along that line, you can do that without needing a GIANT street). Looks like every address /...

    Toronto Ontario Line 3 | ?m | ?s

This is why it's gutting as a Londoner that all the good engineers and designers who worked on Crossrail are currently in Australia (Sydney Metro, Melbourne Metro Tunnel) or New Zealand (City Rail Link) ... because we're not building Crossrail 2... :( A long runway of rapid transit projects in...

Toronto's AIC + Other Municipal Development Application Portals (UX/UI/APIs & Opendata)

Unfortunately I don't think I've ever used a good "planning data" system - but the Toronto one is particularly bad. Hard to find addresses or applications if you don't know the correct reference. We've got gigabit internet here at home, and documents take an age to download!

    And on that note....

Roads: Ambassador & Gordie Howe Bridges

I wouldn't be surprised if general customs capability remains the same - for some trucks and most cars. But specialist customs capability might be moved to the brand new facilities at the Gordie Howe - given USDA have a building there, vehicle imaging building, much more space etc.

Roads: Ambassador & Gordie Howe Bridges

Yes, I could see the Ambassador asking for/paying for a "crossing wait time" electronic sign on the 401!

Toronto GO Transit: Davenport Diamond Grade Separation | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

Keeping the diamond track is classy, that's really nice.

Toronto New Park at 229 Richmond West | ?m | ?s | City of Toronto | Gow Hastings

Ugh, imagine how bad this is going to look when value engineered to smithereens and then poorly maintained/managed by Parks for a few years. I'm not asking for bland featureless grass and some trees (looks at some of the parks recently built in York Region) ... but thinking about the...

    Hamilton Hamilton Line B LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

yes, I can imagine a few providers kicking up a fuss if Alstom was selected automatically...

    Hamilton Hamilton Line B LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

Interesting that they didn't take that approach with the Ontario Line - Hitachi rolling stock likely made in Italy! Alstom have been binning the majority of the BBD intellectual property - seems very unlikely they would stick with a BBD Flexity product given that they are only advertising...

Danforth Line 2 Scarborough Subway Extension

yes, even just acquiring the TTCs pile of leftover spare parts would still be useful to them, I suspect

    Hamilton Hamilton Line B LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

It will be interesting to see how the vehicle procurement goes - given the substantial number of potential manufacturers, and how much politics plays into the decision making process... Edmonton has ordered trains from Hyundai Rotem, Calgary has ordered from CAF, Alstom would obviously be...

Roads: Ambassador & Gordie Howe Bridges

I wonder what efforts they will to try to keep customers? I would not be surprised if the fuel prices drop a little, and their toll is set just below the Gordie Howe ones. Perhaps lobbying for a big sign on the 401 that says something like "USA - Gordie Howe $x , Ambassador $y , Tunnel $z "...

Danforth Line 2 Scarborough Subway Extension

Yes, that's the point I'm trying to make - the tunnel should be the easy part, but at this rate they are building - they'll still be building the Scarborough Subway in 2050! bit of an exaggeration

    Proposed renaming of Dundas Street

So we're jumping the gun here?

    Proposed renaming of Dundas Street

I honestly think just renaming the City assets is a reasonable compromise from a cost/benefit perspective - although I'm a little annoyed that the open goal of simply calling YD Square "Yonge Square" will be avoided. Uh, I thought they'd be developing a shortlist, not making the final decision...

    TTC: Other Items (catch all)

Yonge-Dundas Square, TTC stations to be renamed under new city council proposal (Toronto Star) Council item: MM13.29 - Confronting the Legacy of the Transatlantic Slave Trade: Renaming Civic Assets Bearing the Henry Dundas Name - by Councillor Chris Moise, seconded by Mayor Olivia Chow

Danforth Line 2 Scarborough Subway Extension

Just north of Highway 401 could be ... a kilometre of tunnel? At this rate, the tunnel will be done by .... counts on fingers ... 2030? 10 to 15 metres a day should mean that a tunnel of 7.8km would be completed in around 2 years - at an optimistic 1km of tunnel dug since January, they've dug at...
