    2018 Ontario PC Leadership Race

That may or may not be the case. My statements have nothing to do with what I expect from the PC party. I was just expressing a belief that I think it's time for a government change and what I would, and would not like to see in that government. If I don't see what I want coming from the...

    Premier Doug Ford's Ontario

Yup. I once wrote an email that ended up in Rob's inbox. Never mind that it was a criticism of him while he was still a councilor, I have since received every Ford nation update and invite.

    2018 Ontario PC Leadership Race

You're right. We don't know yet what the conservatives will be promising budget-wise. We've accumulated a lot of debt though, and the interest payments on it are impacting our ability to deliver services. Personally I'd like to see the government put some effort into reducing that debt rather...

    2018 Ontario PC Leadership Race

lol. I wouldn't describe myself as a fiscal conservative. I do think though that absent a truly centrist government, alternating periodically between fiscally left and right is needed to keep things balanced.

    2018 Ontario PC Leadership Race

I don't think it's so much about people caring about the nomination issues. It's more about the party being able to prepare for and mount an effective campaign when the time they would normally use for that preparation is bogged down with a leadership campaign and riding nominations.

    2018 Ontario PC Leadership Race

I'm not so sure she can just sit back. Current polling seems to indicate that dropping Brown has helped the Tories. However, this mess with Brown and the nominations issues will certainly hinder their ability to prepare for the campaign. Wynne is a smart campaigner, and I'm sure she'll be able...

    PM Justin Trudeau's Canada

If you read the comments on the article, there's certainly some speculation that it is.

    2018 Ontario Provincial Election Discussion

This all depends on the PC party being able to remain a cohesive group. One thing Brown did manage to do relatively well was keep a lid on the social conservative wing of the party. If they try to make a play for power here, things could get messy. If they manage to stay the course and put a...

    2018 Ontario Provincial Election Discussion

I am in absolute agreement that the law and social services need to be applied equally to both male and female victims. I don't think anyone here is arguing against that. As far as I see it though, this is similar to the "black lives matter" vs the "all lives matter" debate. Women are singled...

    2018 Ontario Provincial Election Discussion

This particular incident was about two women, and this kind of abuse disproportionately affects women. It's not even remotely close. I know it happens to men as well, so if making my comments gender neutral makes you more comfortable, I have no problem with that.

    2018 Ontario Provincial Election Discussion

There was no assumption. I said "if it was her dream". There's too little known to make any conclusions. My point stands though. If you want women to feel comfortable coming forward immediately after the abuse happens, when chances of finding evidence are highest, then you need to treat them...

    2018 Ontario Provincial Election Discussion

Just because she went back doesn't mean it wasn't abuse. Like was said earlier, if it was her dream to enter politics then the decision to go back or not would likely have been very difficult. It's not a cut and dry decision at all. While it's not right or fair to destroy someone's life on...

    2018 Ontario Provincial Election Discussion

We seem to have some wildly diverging poll numbers here in Ontario. The Forum Research poll was posted on here a few days ago, indicating a huge lead for the PCs. http://poll.forumresearch.com/post/2811/ontario-horserace-november-2017/ Campaign Research published a new poll yesterday showing...

    Metrolinx: Presto Fare Card

Those two statements contradict each other. Someone took the off-the-shelf components and coded something so they would work together. Whoever did this left out some fairly basic and simple to implement functionality.

    Mayor John Tory's Toronto

Well, he was a fairly well known columnist for The Star. He's also been fairly active politically since leaving. I think he has a fair amount of name recognition and is quite popular on the left side of things. I'm not overly surprised.

    2018 Ontario Provincial Election Discussion

I think this is probably true. I'm curious how those social conservatives and "nutty rural landowner types" are going to respond. I don't think they're even close to the majority of the PC base, but they are often the most vocal part of it.

    Metrolinx: Presto Fare Card

That's terrible planning on Presto's part. There's no way it should require extra hardware to do that. Someone poorly designed their back end if they can't link the bus route to the fair to be charged through software alone.

Agreed. That's why I singled them out. I'm actually surprised it's only 70%. I'd assumed it was even higher than that.

    2018 Ontario Provincial Election Discussion

This is my concern as well. All the "gives" look great, but they need to go into detail on what they're going to take away to pay for it all. Any cuts to healthcare or education are completely unacceptable, and if they make cuts to any other areas they'll have to be major.

    2018 Ontario Provincial Election Discussion

I don't think the bias is so much for the Liberals as it is against the Conservatives. Their policies and their actions have proven detrimental to Toronto in the past.
