That's all very nice, except you're attempting to characterize me as something I am pretty much the opposite of. So your argument is really just a straw man. It's shame how you waste all that verbosity.

I'm not against grass-roots movements...they are good for things like stopping Spadina Expressways and saving Island homes. The problem is they know no bounds, so it has to be tempered. People really need to stop seeing everything as black & white.

Well, to put things into perspective, Toronto is the kind of place where two generations worth of stellar patronage (Mirvish) and an actual game-changing, world-beating design from the most celebrated architect of our generation is the target of demonizing rather than celebration. So why...

    Mayor John Tory's Toronto

There was always going to be a transfer for anyone going eastbound from Kennedy anyway...either from the BD or the Eglinton LRT. Making it an extension of the Eglinton LRT line rather than an an extension of the BD Line eliminates a transfer and saves roughly $1.6 billion in the process.

And you know the big name attached to it is the only reason there is a story in the first place. And big names don't necessarily denote sacred cow status. And of course it doesn't apply here. There's not a building or tree in existence that some grassroots preservationists won't try to...

What are you talking about? The mirrored glass 3rd floor is still untouched and intact. The first two floors are required to temporarily hold it in place until this significant portion of the building can be worked into the design.

I notice a large portion of it has been removed??? The smaller leftover portion appears to be "working". CF is so peculiar. They spend all that money defiling their own property and then blow $2.5 million on a 135m long sculpture that is essentially invisible. And oh yea....the main...

To make the whole thing a little more sporting, I would issue parking enforcement stun guns to use at their discretion.

That's only because you have failed to grasp the notion that I am not speaking in black & white terms. No one, or no era is/was infallible. Some of you want to hypothesize what David Crombie and Jane Jacobs thinks about this particular project. I don't think you have a clue what they would...

What...that you wanna "crack some skulls"? ha ha That only matters if you're actually interested in appeasing the mewling heritage camp. P.S. I hate Porter

    Mayor John Tory's Toronto

What...16 years of municipal service not enough for you? 100% of the blame lies with the obviously stupid electorate.

    Mayor John Tory's Toronto

This was not an exercise in trying to gain credit. I thought it was obvious that I wasn't trying to hide it?? I've learned it's much more fun to play into the role of the evil Torontonian. **insert Trudeau salute here** Depends if you want history to repeat itself or not.

Except we aren't talking about destroying viable residential neighbourhoods to build commie blocks. We are talking about city-building that involves greyfield/brownfield revitalization. If you want to keep tap dancing on this point, I'm getting tired of it.

Yes Toronto...stop thinking big...you can't do it. Just wallow in your mediocrity while the world passes you by. I'll address the rest of your flawed post later

It was junctionist who originally said those things, but you seem to be defending it, so I assume you agree with it. Again...not really the point. The point is these ideas seem to contradict the evidence.

Calculate again...only this time factor in actual tax dollars collected from Toronto vs ROO, then factor in what percentage of social housing Toronto has to accommodate vs ROO. We should get all of it, but we are still happy to share with the rest of the ingrates in ROO.

Tewder...why is it when you are wrong, you tend to be really wrong? Actually, it was a time when we turned that former industrial wasteland into one of the world's great urban renewal projects...you know...that time when urban planners from all over the world came to Toronto to study it. But...
