Toronto Regent Park: Daniels Artworks Tower | 105.76m | 33s | Daniels | BDP Quadrangle

Yes! Finally some colour in a new Regent Park tower. Love the diamond details in the brick.

On my last visit, I was actually quite enheartened to see that New York was filled with mediocre condo boxes quite similar to our own. It's just that they also have a huge market for luxury units, so they get some spectacular architecture along with the banal.

Woah!!! This is flying by. I guess that's what happens when there are only 2 levels of parking... another reason the City should relax parking minimums.

Everyone's trying to get in before the LPAT comes into effect.

The height is nowhere near final. It could be 10 storeys shorter, or 20 storeys higher. And keep in mind, commercial storeys are taller than residential ones. Unless the building backs onto a ravine or a Victorian neighbourhood with heritage protection, never buy a Toronto condo for the view.

    Toronto The Selby | 165.5m | 50s | Tricon | bKL Architecture

It's actually quite slim if you shift the angle 90 degrees. If anything is going to overwhelm the skyline, I'm glad it's this one.

    Mayor John Tory's Toronto

Not that she had the ability to call any shots as a bureaucrat, but I think city planning's support of the Scarborough subway extension under her watch says otherwise. Tory is the epitome of "elite" (and actually lives downtown), so in a head to head match, I'm not sure that she's going to be...

    Mayor John Tory's Toronto

No. People actually know who she is. She also has a heaping dose of charisma, something Socknacki sadly lacked.

    Mayor John Tory's Toronto

This video is especially entertaining knowing that he deliberately changed his name from George to Giorgio.

Toronto King Portland Centre and Kingly Condos | 57.6m | 15s | Allied | Hariri Pontarini

No, it's not. That post is a little misleading.

I would say good investment, if it can be converted to commercial or multi-unit residential. Particularly after the handful of midrise projects in the area are finished.

    2018 Ontario Provincial Election Discussion

Yes, unless she somehow announces a revamp of her party's platform to something that would actually be competitive outside of Hamilton and Windsor. I can only assume that the current ONDP leadership has lost any motivation to form government, and seeks only to serve the niche issues of its...

    Transit Fantasy Maps

I don't think we're that far off from Tech Libertarians shouting "NO NEED FOR TAXATION FOR PUBLIC TRANSIT! MUSK SAYS WE'LL BE TELEPORTING SOON!!1!" We'll have to get the hyperloop up and running first though. Priorities are priorities.

    Toronto 346 Davenport | 36.27m | 9s | Freed | RAW Design

More shelter space is great. I wish that the Annex Residents' Association was just as welcoming to new housing for future generations, in the form of condominiums, as it is to homeless shelters

Toronto The Carvalo on College | 21.94m | 7s | Clifton Blake | Studio JCI

It's not that they made a "call", per say, but they probably said to the developer something like "If you remove some of the brick on the facade, we/Council would be more amenable to your proposal". I have absolutely no idea why they would ask for the removal of the brick details though.

Toronto King Portland Centre and Kingly Condos | 57.6m | 15s | Allied | Hariri Pontarini

Ugh, so nice. Allied is just the best. Credit where credit is due. Can't wait to see the arches once the brick is attached, it's going to be sublime.

    Toronto MEC Queen Street (Mountain Equipment Coop) | 21.03m | 3s | Parallax | Sweeny &Co

Which, at this point, they really should allow. Then half the buildings would be 150 meters, and half would be taller. It would at least result in some visual interest. Maybe Mirvish-Gehry will result in a crop of 300 meter condos in the area... (assuming the new LPAT would allow it)

    Amazon Second HQ

When you remove American nationalist optics from the equation, I really do think Toronto is the strongest contender. (Culture+Talent+Cost savings+Transportation+Site potential+Immigration+Weaker dollar) If I were Jeff Bezos, I'd build two new smaller HQ's; one in the States that gets the label...
