Here are some photos of the locks (this one is the biggest one in the world).

Cities of Belgium - Pt. 2 - Louvain la Neuve, Newtown

Anarcho, it might be too early to draw conclusions, as the city has only had 4 decades to develop. But in general, the attitude towards the city is positive: it is becoming a 'normal town', with a diversified population (roughly half of the inhabitants are student) and a diversified economy...

Cities of Belgium - Pt. 2 - Louvain la Neuve, Newtown

Okay, so four threads might not be enough to share all my photos from my 8-day tour of Belgium with planning students and staff from my uni. Later, Ghent, Brugge, the Coast, Ieper and Mons will follow. This thread is about Louvain-la-Neuve This city was created from scratch in 1971. It was...

    Cities of Belgium - Pt. 1 - Brussels(2)

I went on an excursion with Planning students and staff from my Uni last week, for 8 days we explored all of Belgium. I'll post 4 threads, two of Brussels, one of cities in the Flemmish part of the country (where Dutch is spoken) and one of cities in the Walloon region of the country (where...

Nice you were in that city aswell, again it seems like we crossed paths. I was there from tuesday evening until friday morning. Of course I don't mind if you post your pics, it'll be cool to compare them with mine. Brussels is a great city- it deserves the attention!

    Cities of Belgium - Preview

Just thought I'd post a few pics I've taken so far. I'm in Brussels now, and I will return to Holland saturday evening, after visiting some more towns in Belgium's eastern provinces. Ghent, in Flandres (Dutch speaking part) same trams as TTC? Bruges, Flanders Wall of concrete...

Where Dundas St. used to go

Most cities are pretty white, compared to Toronto at least. Toronto is about as multicultural as cities get.

    Darkstar's Doors Open 2007

Great pics, Darkstar! I like the interior of the SAS building, and how eco-friendly it is designed. Is soccer becoming more popular in Toronto like it is in the US? When I saw pics from celebrating Italians in Toronto last summer (world cup), I'd say it is?

Where Dundas St. used to go

Nice pictures. Dundas indeed has that historical, small-town look. You say that Dundas now is part of Hamilton, yet in one of your pictures one can see the skyline of Hamilton, and it looks quite far away... has Hamilton really got a built-up area THAT big? I allways thought of it as a suburb...

I don't think I'll be the first one to reach 1000 posts, lol! But we'll see ;)

    Chinatown Spadina & Dundas

Fantastic pics, such a lively neighbourhood! Looks like the neighbourhood in Utrecht I'll be moving to (that one is also looking a bit rundown ;) ) Your pics also remind me of Christopher's pics of Montréal btw.

    Barcelona III

Great series indeed! I've been there 3 times and loved it, especially all of Gaudi's creations. Didn't you think that Parc Guell looks like an urban disneyland ;) I've always seen 'Barça' as a European version of LA, it's a coastal city surrounded by hills, plus thousands of tourists from...

    Netherlands: Waalpanorama (aA)

Anarcho, thanks for the info on Ottawa! I understand how having lots of green spaces add to the attractiveness of a city... I am moving to Utrecht this week and I'm 100 metres away from a large urban park.

    Queensday in Amsterdam

"Obviously these events cannot take place these days without vandalism," He is right here, and I think that it is pathetic that supporters cannot celebrate the victory of their favorite team without rioting.
