No, they recently said that they have no interest in putting a Simons downtown. It was in an article a few months ago. I didn't bookmark it.

Do we have a better source than Jennifer Keesmaat? Reading that BNN article again I realize that this is all just anecdotal evidence provided by Keesmaat. Is there a link to a bank or industry source that can provide numbers and reliable information?

To be clear, this article does not say anything specific. In it Keesmaat says, “However, it has now been 'sitting' for three years, as the developer is trying to pull together the builder and the funding to make it a reality.” That's not really much information to make assumptions.

Yup. The City will lose this fight. It's just another example of why we need the OMB.

    I think it's a TARDIS.

Does anyone else think that Victoria Square sucks? It looks so plain and boring. Bland. I'd rather see something flash and fun.

So is that white building south of the historic tower part of the development?

Having some tall buildings in the right context is cool, but I really don't care about how tall things are anymore. It's gotten boring. Toronto's best urban environments are not its tallest. Would central Paris benefit by building skyscrapers everywhere? Does Shibuya, Tokyo need to be taller...

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. Posted hours ago on the Menkes youtube page:

They spent a lot of time and money to screw this up. And that cavernous entrance was a bad idea.

Hendrick's Restaurant will get street-facing presence here in Fall 2017. Their actual website isn't working for me. Their Instagram is hendriksrestaurant. It includes a render.

Toronto Davisville Jr. Public School Redevelopment | 14.93m | 3s | Snyder Architects

Heritage value is great, but do we know what the building is like as a school? Is it an ideal place for kids to learn? I think that's the most important question, unless there is a way to retain the building for some other use.

Actually no. Not in the constitution.

It's not your choice to make. It sounds like you don't understand what laws are and why they exist. This isn't about you facing a punishment, it's about you trespassing on someone's property and potentially breaking other laws also. Imagine a more extreme example just to make the point: "Murder...

    Toronto 401 Bay Street | 143.86m | 33s | Cadillac Fairview | WZMH

This was pretentious to the point of being nearly unreadable. I think you've invented a new language here. Can we just talk about the building?

Are there any buildings that have this same cladding so we can get a sense of the final look?

This building is ugly, and I'd rather see it torn down and replaced with something new. I'm hoping the cladding improves it, but I'm not counting on it.

And also overstated its size by making the same mistake I pointed out above.

Regarding the front page story, it should be pointed out (again) that the actual square footage of the retail is smaller than the figure stated in the story. That number does not represent leaseable area, which is the number that malls use. So it cannot be compared to the big malls in the city.

    Cherry Street Nightclub

I laughed at that too. I might have sympathized with them if they described it as an annoyance, which I imagine it is.
