    West Don Lands

I've taken part in the Waterfront Toronto meetings about Don River Park. Apart from the school which is supposed to magically share the park with everyone else, the park itself looks good, with all-season use planned. To open in 2011.. (sigh)

    Toronto X2 Condominiums | 160.93m | 49s | Lifetime | Wallman Architects

I find it odd that X2 seems comprised of two separate structures, with west-facing windows in the podium staring into east-facing ones in the high rise. Based on the rendering, X2 appears to be a duplicate of X, with a mini-X (sub X?) beside it.

    Toronto X2 Condominiums | 160.93m | 49s | Lifetime | Wallman Architects

Check out the X2 ad on page 19 in the Oct. 22, 2009 issue of Xtra. It advertises "42 storeys" yet the picture shows 44 floors, assuming one balcony per floor. Curious!

    Street Car vs. Bus

I prefer streetcars first, electric trolley buses second, and regular buses last. They're interesting. Regular buses are boring. I love the sound of the wheels on the track, the occasional hum of the wires and, at night, the odd sparks as streetcars travel through splices in the wire. A bus...

The Star: Jarvis St. must change with evolving environs

Bike Lanes 2.0 I cycle all year. Yes, the painted lines DO make a difference. However, they are at best a half-measure. Ideally, bike lanes are buffered from traffic so there is no possibility of encroachment by motor vehicles. Call it Bike Lanes 2.0. Put the two lanes together and some kind of...

    Miller Derangement Syndrome

It's easy to complain. Who would you rather have run the city? Mel Lastman? I support the mayor and many of his initiatives (e.g., tear down the Gardiner, expand public transit, encourage energy conservation, reclaim the waterfront). These take time.

Waterfront: West Don Lands - Transit EA

timetable for Cherry Street? I wonder when the makeover for Cherry Street takes place, along with the streetcar track extension from King Street. is this somehow contingent on the Pan Am bid and the planned athlete's village in the West Donlands?

Just develop Lakeshore Blvd east of Port Credit, eventually all the way to Long Branch. It's a natural future LRT corridor too!

Every time I walk by the building, I see the three story above-grade portion of the parking garage and think "cheap cheap cheap".

The underground garages for the office and residential buildings would be connected at the first level to allow for shared parking between the two buildings. The Star: Jarvis St. must change with evolving environs

At a previous job, my employer had shower facilities. Through the spring, summer, and fall, a group regularly cycled to and from work (17 km each way). Others ran during lunch and a few long distance runners even ran home from work 2 or 3 times a week. (Company town.) I don't recall anyone...
